Have you guys wondered why the gear market sucks?

It's going to be a balance between supply/demand... as always. If buyers are refusing to pay and sellers are refusing to lower their prices, one of the two will have to give eventually. I'm ok hanging onto my gear if it doesn't sell at the prices I'm willing to let it go for.

I was the only person in the entire SF Bay Area with a good-condition Bogner 4x12 available. Hell, you would have had to drive to L.A. to find another. There was ONE other cab available, but it was in bad condition. I had a guy hound me on FB for a month straight. He wanted the cab. He agreed to the price and then followed up with how this other one was cheaper so I should lower my price. I said no. If this guy wanted it at that price, go buy the other one. He said no, it was in bad condition. Well buddy... if you want MY cab that's in good condition, and it's the only option available, I'm not lowering my price. There's a reason he wasn't buying the other one and wanted mine.

He got angry and then got his brother to hound me and lowball so I would eventually cave. I didn't. He got mad and started harassing me. Had to block him. No skin off my back. All of this over $100 lol.
Definitely a WTF moment......It's your item and you decide what you will sell it for..........All lowballers can go pound sand. They can make a respectful offer but stalking shouldn't be part of the offer.....WTF!:loco::no:

nah, I'd take it. when I say low ball offers it's close to half off my asking price

Yeah that's Reverb's definition of "lowball" as well, anything under 65% or whatever. And I agree.

Generally when someone makes an offer like that, they're attempting to negotiate a price between 75-85% of the asking price, and if you work with them, you can get it worked out - if that's what you want.

The weird thing is, I've never taken offense to someone shooting down an offer if they don't want to barter, that's fine? So it's a little unbelievable to me that someone would flip their shit over less that 10% of the asking price.

But not only did he flip his shit, he's on alts trying to defend it on the original post LOL

Who the fuck behaves like this? People are nuts.
Reminds me of the Laney GH50L that I sold on Reverb that was in mint condition, for $699 + $99 shipping). It was a 2006, and the guy said I needed to drop my price because there was one on EBAY for $550 that was in..... Japan. He didn't factor in shipping, for one, and he also said that because it was 15 years old, it needed re-capped. REALLY? He kept hounding me, and started getting shitty until I finally told him to fuck off. I had people fighting over it on Reverb, it was the only one listed in the U.S. It literally sold while this dipshit kept sending messages.

This is going to be my excuse for not selling anything and having an unnecessary horde of gear.

Some people will send messages like "I can't afford it if it's at ___ price". You simply respond with, "Well, I'm sorry, but you can't afford it then."

It's unfathomable to me that the unwritten rules of used gear are no longer followed

This is so simple. "Hey I saw you are selling ____. Are you willing to work on the price at all or are you firm on it?" (Polite!)

Decision Tree: if firm, (politely!) respect the sellers wishes and fuck off if you aren't willing to pay that price.

Decision Tree: If willing to work on price, start with a (polite!) offer of 80% of their asking price. Most of the time, people will respond with "how about 85-90% but I'll eat the shipping" or something.

This used to be a normal thing that people did. I don't see how it's possible that people are this retarded.

Im wondering what the dipshit would have not thought was a lowball offer. Maybe 10$ less?

That's what is so wild about this

if THAT is a lowball offer worth shitting a brick about (making a tgp thread, counteroffering higher than list)

What ISN'T a lowball offer? Like bro you're selling your personal used gear, this isn't a retail store

2400 for 2500 asking is "low ball" rofl jfc

That being said if I were to decline politely, and the same guy came back with an even lower offer I would probably tell him to shove it in a similar way.

That thread provided me much entertainment yesterday and today. I'll be getting notifications about it for the next few days for sure. In fact, it reminded me so much of Bezo's thread about him lowballing, I actually asked him about it here lol.

He has doubled down and tripled down so many times that it's even more hilarious. At this point, I'm with the fuckin buyer. Send actual lowballs lol.

I want him to post the actual listing :ROFLMAO:

He thinks THAT is a lowball? Ill show him a lowball

Oh god, you know he won't.

How I got my Kaizen? Listed at 3k.
Offered 2200 (a lowball, but a realistic one) and seller countered at 2400. Easy deal. Done. Gimme my fuckin Kaizen.

That dude didn't know how to look through Reverb's sold listings, of course he's out to fuckin lunch about this situation.
