ToneX 78/79 doing Fair Warning.............

I just placed my order for the IK Axe I/O One interface. Sweetwater rep called and said it does have a basic amp/cab/effect modeling in the ToneXSE package to try out other than the other premium software.

Once I get the interface in hand then I'll buy the 78/79 package from IK directly! The clips from Gus G on IK's site sound good as well. If it sounds half as good as these clips and videos for the investment I'll be more than happy with it....., if not.... I have wasted more on pedals in the past....we shall see.....:2thumbsup:

I would like to thank all you guys for being a bad influence on me to try this out!:hys:

C'mon Johnny..... jump in the 21'st Century modeling pool with me!:p

I hope to do that sooner than later. Please let us know what you think after you're put ToneX through it's paces!

I am not even a huge Van Halen tone person, but I did the 30 minute Demo last night and I liked this collection enough that I bought it. It is a lot different than my normal chugga tones, but it is just so fun to play. It is fat, but not mushy, and dynamic and sustaining, although not that gainy. I even found messing with the EQ I could get some other good Marshall tones, like Green Day and such.

I think that comes with Amplitube SE also, so that is a different program where you can set up entire effects chains with modulations and delays and such. That is a fun program to play with also, and you can even use the ToneX models inside of it.

The more I listen to clips and reviews I think I will enjoy it quite alot. Thanks for your quick review!

After listening to Neddi Stanz clips it's just a kick ass Marshall tone in addtition to EVH stuff. I wonder what interface Neddi Stanz is using though?

This is the first digital product that has really caught my ear enough to dive in and actually try it out!:2thumbsup::yes:

[EDITED] So I watched it all, great content. Lots of information, if you want to hear the guitar parts, open the video details and skip through the talking.

He shares some interesting infos on the package. I am even more curious now to get a basic ToneX one and buy that pack.

I pulled the trigger on the 78/79 pack this morning and it's pretty cool. Had a great sounding patch going in a few minutes. Easily worth the dough.

I hope to have my 78/79 pack sometime this week.:2thumbsup: Yet another glowing report on the 78/79 only reinforces what I am hearing in these clips!:m4::rock:

I'll warn you though, the UI is kind of a shitshow. It's not very intuitive. Easier if you're just using your computer but it's a PITA using two separate programs if you have one of the pedals.
I forgot why it had been so long since I fired up Tonex and then it dawned on me a few seconds later.
I also wish that they would have included some raw captures so that we could use our own power amps and cabs.

I think if you have used synth programs, or general plugins from synth or recording companies, then the UI makes sense. For guitar-only people it can be confusing.

Luckily he will only have the interface. I think ToneX is easier to use on the computer with an interface. When people try to start editing on the pedals is when they get frustrated. If everyone would just dial in everything in the program and then only transfer to the pedal as-is without editing, they would save themselves a lot of frustration.

Yeah, I generally always look for DI captures and sadly this pack doesn't include any.

so if i have the pedal and laptop but no studio monitors,
i’ll just be plugging my gtr into pedal as the gtr->laptop interface,

using the app on my computer to edit and transfer presets to pedal,

using studio headphones to monitor off my laptop headphone jack?

It depends on if you use it in pedal mode, or in interface mode. I would probably only use it in interface mode while I am sitting at the computer, and transfer my results to the pedal when I am ready to take the sounds with me somewhere else.
