This is not a metal amp

I had no idea I would walk away from that video being so happy with the way my little Marshall Lead 12 head sounds.

Idk what that is supposed to say about anything, but I am able to get that little thing slamming.

I know the little lead 12 is like a JCM800 feel/sound but something about this amp demo is sounding eerily close.

Johan has covered the straight vs slant in a number of videos. I prefer the tone of slants but if I were mic’ing a cab the top speakers of a slant would be the last choice.

And fwiw there are the VH1 pictures of the mic on the top speaker of a slant. It can work obv.

Do you actually believe these mod series amps sound great? I can't tell if you're being serious.

Honestly yes. I like em.. not ALL the demos obviously but they have accomplished what they set out to do. The core tone of the amp and a bit more. It's not gonna chug properly or do down tuned Metal but it will hit a lot of those modded MArshall tones. The pricetag sucks though.

There is a reason the straight cabs generally sound better than their angled counterparts.
That's a big negative ghostrider.

That's like me saying, "There's a reason no one gigs with straight cabs since you can't hear yourself. Slants are the only way."
Pretty objective subject no?
If you play out, and have big stage volume to deal with(LOUD drummers for example) a slant is the only way to hear yourself without putting your guitar through the damn monitors.
When I've ever gigged with a straight cab, I end up trying to tilt it up. They produce more boomy lows also.
Slants for the win. Every time(playing out anyway)

Ok hear me out . Marshall needs to just do an amp like Mark 7 . I have a real super lead , a 2203 , and a modded jvm or what not for each channel

I somehow do ok with a 2x12 Twin and never use the tilt back legs either and I don't work with weak drummers but I guess they don't have Z crashes and American rock crusher sticks either, lol. I def don't want it pointed at my head. I was just going by experiences I had mic'ing a strat and 100 watt Plexi into a AX cab in a few different studio settings. The top speakers didn't ever sound as good to me. Maybe part of it is dudes are chugging so the extra brightness might help but I'm not doing that and it was no good with a sc loaded strat.

Apparently it’s a clean channel, channel two has jtm45/jcm800/900 modes, channel 3 has mad gain

I hear ya man it's all preference. I do own a few straight cabs and dig that tone as well....thicker maybe and definitely darker. For playing out though, whenever I've brought a straight cab it usually went back home with me after the first night...night 2 was a slant. Lol

Idk . It kinda was its own thing . It’s didn’t sound like that . It’s cool though . But was that really what that amp is ?
Those are good sounding amps...better than a DSL, TSL and most 900s...but, prone to breakdowns. A buddy who still gigs twice a month finally decided to not fix his second one after the latest issue. I steered him towards a 5153 as he needs 3 channels and is on a budget.

Interesting . I didn’t realize that

Marshall always seems to get bashed for "never giving the people what the want", but you have have this thing, the SL-X, the KK2203, the YJM jvm and whatever others.. never really made sense to me
