The Dual Recto RI is the best Recto to date. A hill I'm ready to die on.

So, I've now had 17 Rectifiers. I've owned or played every version with the exception of Rev D & Rev E. With that in the rearview, I feel pretty strongly that the new Dual Rec Reissue is the best Recto ever made. This is a pretty crazy & bold statement since "reissues are never as good as the OGs", right? Well... I guess there's an exception to every rule.. I don't know if this is a happy accident or what but I'll take it, and I'm stoked to see they CAN still make an epic modern day amp!

...And it seems to not just be me- guys I know with similar experiences are selling their OGs after playing a RI. Also other local guitarists who have played mine are visibly blown away by how good it is. I knew it the first time I jacked into one in a store, the detail and dynamics were simply superior to any other recto I've had, with only the Rev C coming close to these feels.

For those of you who have put a RI up against the others- where do you stand?

P.S. the Triple is likely coming late this year as a Blackout - we'll see how it compares!!!

We had a reissue back to back with a $700 pawn shop random two channel dual. To be honest, the old dusty thing was one of the best sounding amps I ever heard. I think the reissue was close. I played the reissue in stereo with my amp, and it was massive.

We also played a groundzero modded one with those other two. It sounded like it had a blanket over it. I don't have a clue why you would mod one. They sound perfect with a boost

I've only owned a handful of Rectos...a MW, Triple, and current GZ Trem Dual and the RI is tits. I like the RI leaps and bounds more than the MW and triple I owned. The GZ Trem still stands toe to toe with the RI so far in my short time with the RI but they are different beasts.

As far as other amps for comparison, I've owned over 80 amps and the RI Recto is possibly gonna land in top 5 for me. I currently own some heavy hitters and the RI is every bit as good as all of them. I'm only a few weeks in but the RI is blowing my mind not just in terms of Recto tone but as an amp overall its insanely good.

I agree with the reissue. It absolutely slammed. I’ve owned all revisions except a rev E and and own a triple f. The reissue is the best. The only reason I sold mine was anticipating a triple reissue. When that happens I’ll get one.

Edit: I’ve owned 2 gz rectifiers. Love them as well

Maybe the gz recto we tried was broken. I have liked all other gz amps I've tried.

From what i heard, i dont think liking badlander is a bad thing. I heard it wasnt really like a typical recto though.
It says recto . But many people pass it up and it’s awesome . If I do a recto it’s badlander . Or wait for the new triple

I really liked Badlander . I’m weird . But I do want to try one of these
IMO the Badlander is a fantastic rock amp, If you're looking for the cuts not the chugs. When I had one I just had the metal band & I moved it, now that I have an 80s rock band I'd love to give one another go.

Interesting, I had someone tell me the opposite after owning a Reissue and ditching it for a 2 Channel Rev G.

I've owned all the rectifier revisions, minus the C & D. Love my Rev E Dual and my Rev F Triple, which I still own.

The reissue probably sounds fine, but I wouldn't pass over a good deal on a vintage 2 Channel if it sounds good.

I’ve kinda heard this too

I don't think it was broken, but it just didn't sound as good as the other two. Tubes may have been worn. FWIW, the owner of that amp put it up for sale the next day. He eventually sold it.

I had a few rectifiers in the past. Considering that I usually stayed on the silicon mode for more modern tones, does that mean I should just get a Badlander- it seems to be a rectifier without those extra power tube options for spongy vintage?

I wasnt a fan of the badlander 100, i felt it was missing some low end and felt like it didnt have enough gain, it seemed mid focused and tight which is nice, bur overall i was underwhelmed. I dunno if it was broken or had a issue but it seemed weak sounding. I could see how it would be ok in a band mix with those mids but i felt like the lowend was missing. Its been 3 yrs since i played it, i was excited to try it because i thought it was gonna be a clearer and tighter sounding recto.

You're describing the BL well. :) That's why I feel like it's a fantastic rock amp.

Guess you're going to have to try one for yourself! Opinions are impossible to quantify.

If I found a great deal on an OG 2ch I also wouldn't pass it over- but when you're comparing guys asking $2500-$3500 for Gs and Fs I'd personally take the RI all day long.

To me how an amp sits in the live mix is important. Every Recto I've gigged in the past was fine not great, and tended to hide a bit in the mix. I have a feeling that the RI is going to be more prominent and can't wait to test it out. I jammed it the other night with my other guitarist where we A/B tested lots of head / cab combos and found one that's phenomenal, taking it to rehearsal tomorrow.
