For me Rush is Lee, Lifeson and Peart plain and simple.
I believe Lifeson and Lee should do what they like but NOT go out as Rush because it simply isn't Rush.
Call it something else and don't rob the fans because without Peart it can never sound like Rush to a fan.
Add to that they're too old, they looked past it on their farewell tour. It's like 2 geriatrics have escaped the old people's home masquerading as 2 young guys to relive their past glory which can never happen.
Geddy cannot sing any more, he's way past it and has been since Vapor Trails.
They're either attention whores or they need the money.
Female drummer? Gotta be kidding me, there are so many guys who are better players and more stylistically Rush suited. Be honest and don't judge her with your eyes. If she was an ugly pig everyone would complain if they're honest.
When I read they were touring and with a female I thought it was April Fools...I really did.

I too have been a fan since the 70s and saw them many times.
I never liked Geddy after watching so many interviews (diva) and Lifeson always just followed along. It's clear to me now that the real integrity of Rush was all Peart's doing.
I wouldn't go and see this show if you gave me front row seats and flew me in private. This isn't Rush and there are tribute bands doing it better today than these guys can as they have vocalists who still have the required range which Ged doesn't. Plus, they have male drummers who have the required physical force that Peart had.
I see this as a rough and ready would be cover band playing Rush and doing it half assed.
After being a die hard fan for so long I see this as a mess and a betrayal to real fans.

Check out the end ot the above video I posted, at the 3 minute mark. This is one of her songs off the album she just released last month.
She was worried that no one would come see her eventually because she would have gray hair and be 50 something.
Ged and Al just gave her the gig of a lifetime, a miracle. I believe everyone is going to be impressed and happy with this move.
The alternaive is no more "Rush" music and no more concerts. Something is more than nothing, and from the looks of it, she's going to deliver, and Al and Ged are literally crying they're so relieved and inspired.

I know I'm being hard but it's what I believe and it's my opinion just as others are fully entitled to theirs.
I want my Ferrari with an original Ferrari engine in it and not a Toyota 4cyl Corolla engine in it. Who in their right mind would.

I'm definitely not saying anything bad about her! But to be honest, that doesn't sound anything like Neil. Completely different style and everything. I bet she can nail the Rush songs, though. She wouldn't be there if she couldn't. But none of the videos I've seen are anything similar to Peart's style. I'm sure she will be awesome.
But that's not really the point. I just can't believe they are going out without Neil. It's a "jump the shark" moment for sure and I just didn't see that coming.

Is it really any surprise that two guys as close as they are want to go out again and play? I wasn't really expecting it, but don't find it remotely surprising. They said they weren't initially because they weren't planning on it, but after time to process his passing and realize they still have a desire to work together it's natural they'd go for it. I'm sure the concerts will rock. I doubt I'll go, and it sounds like you won't either, but is it really that big of deal? We know their work ethic is such that they'll go out and deliver as they always have - sounds like a shorter concert as they realize they can't play 3 hours anymore, but their upfront about it.

The more I've been checking out her vids, I'm impressed with her technique but not her feel. I just don't feel anything. It's all very upright and German.. lol.

None at all. In fact I'm surprised and a bit disappointed it took them this long.
I love the fact that two musicians/friends, who started Rush, created a behemoth, stepped away to morn their friend/partner now get to do what they were born to do - play the music they created.
And on the flip side, I love the fact that this is pissing some people off because it's not how they perceive or "project" things should be, all the while Alex and Ged will be selling out, every single night. And thousands will walk out of the arena with smiles on their faces.

I couldn't ever get past Geddy's voice...
