sound much more full period, sounds thicker, more body to the sound, I've heard people say that the V and VII have this "Plastic" thing to the sound. I never understood it until now.
watch the movie "Dazed and Confused" and tell the 70's didn't rule for rock. the 80's for me is a split, some of the hair metal is actually pretty good , most of it was a joke, the 90's to me was the decade of whining. life sucks I'm so sad blah blah blah, but it did give us Soundgarden and...
I don't know why they just don't release new versions of the the IIC+ and the IV. It's not like they don't know how to do it.
I play in a "Dad Rock" cover band too and my Splawn believe it or not covers 95% of what I need.
The early "transitional Mark IV"B" I recently picked up could also do...
I just ordered these , I'm going to send my mark IV back to Mesa at some point for the "once over" and this looks like a good way to do it (along with other foam padding I've accumulated form other shipments). I have my Splawn box but the amp shell is a narrower than the mark Iv shell so i...
damn , I saw one on GC's site last night for $1099 non EQ, I didn't know anything about them until today ,
was going to pull the trigger on it but .... you snooze you lose :( it's gone
I don't really know much about any of the Mark series amps before the IIC+
this thing even sounds good without the EQ engaged, so why aren't these are popular as the IIC's or the III's
Did some more tube rolling today with this thing.
Now the Preamp section is this
V1- RFT
V2- JJ
V3 - Blackburn Mullard
V4 Amperex Bugle boy
V5 - JJ Balanced
A quick check and the mids sound a little thicker and "chewier with these in there.
Ideally I'd like to swap V1 and V3, but getting V1...
I have set up in 4CM, I could set it up to do the channel switching as well, I just never got around to doing it. I have song specific patches and then 2 main ones I use that have scenes in them so it's been working out well as is. I very rarely go clean/dirty during songs , just usually need to...
I had one of these and sold it here on the forum about a year ago. I was heavily into H/S/S guitars so it wasn't getting the love that it deserved.
fast forward to 2 weeks ago and someone local is selling one that's been plek'd straight from Sweet water for a great price.
So I met up with him...
B52 At100 - cheap ass Recto wanna be, thing almost caught fire twice.
Marshall DSL 40 -- yuck did nothing well.
Peavey JSX (had 3 of them) tried this amp with all possible tubes (El-34, KT-77, 6L6) had an annoying mid thing that drove me nuts
Mesa Rectoverb - too one dimensional it was one of...
No it was fine the gain level on R2 in the "A" is considerably less than on a "B" so having a good clean /rhythm/lead on the "A" was more difficult than it is on the "B" I currently have.
I had a III Red Stripe and a Mark IV A at the same time years ago. I preferred the III (I had KT-77's in the outer spots)
over the "A' but then I got a "B" and all 3 channels were suddenly usable all at once. and the "B" was much more usable at lower volume so the II and "A" got sold. I kind of...
ya my Splawn Cab came with the Small blocks , but I swapped them out for the Scumbacks. I found them to be too dark on stage , I had a hard time hearing myself sometimes, it always sounded "muted". I have 25 watt Small blocks as well so that may have been part of the problem right there. Funny...
