The Mesa Recto would be better, better construction/speakers which made it project and cut more than the MF 400.
I thought they had similar levels of lows but the MF400 sounded boomier with my Triple than with the Recto cab.
I had both cabs in the same room and they were both slanted. I'd say...
Got my warlock fitted with 11's tuned to drop C and my beast fitted with 13's tuned to drop A.
I used to use 13's for the warlock and baritone stings for the beast but it took away some of the edge and crunch

Ah ok, I'd say try to score a 2 ch or reborn head if possible, I'll explain.
With the old 3 ch heads, a lot of them came installed with 100k gain pots when the schematic called for 250k, (My previous 3 ch duals had 100k gain pots and so did some others on the boogie board)
