Anyone have old video of their band from high school?....

A little embarrassed to be showing this, as I had only been playing guitar for a few years.  This was at the 'Battle Of The Bands' in 1987 at our high school...and we won! We called our drummer 'Animal' (as in the Muppet Show) That's him on no coffee. ...and warning!!! spandex...

Responded to an ad to buy a Mesa 2x12 vertical cab locally..

....and after a few replies, I got this in a reply as a footer. Should I be scared? Colossians 2:6, 7 NIV "So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with...

Getting a pretty decent brown tone out of a Fargen Mini Plex

I think I may need to look around for some better sounding EL34 tubes. They really come in to play when you crank an amp to 10 with the EQ full and bass off. Not exact, but you can tell Eddie went for power tube distortion in his old tone. There isn't alot of preamp gain here. Gets real ratty...

Anyone from the old HC days remember Myron Stratis...

I just came across a jam he played on about 10 years ago, kind of a Vai influenced backing that I made. Very lydian. That Greek man had a great vibrato feel. Just natural, it didn't seem put on. Anyway, one of the great jammers from days gone by. Sorry, said attachment too large.

DigiTech RP500, RP1000 and the iPad thingy holder one...

Anyone own one of these? I have the RP500 and made some useful rock patches right off the bat within 10 minutes. Pretty good unit, and feels very sturdy (switches and output jacks) Any reason I should be looking at the more expensive RP models over the RP500? Do the amp tones sound any better...

    Any Fargen love?

I keep hearing great things about the Fargen Olde 800 Mk II. It has a switch to voice it like a 60's, 70's or 80's Marshall. The demos sound great to me. Real thick, fat gainy old Marshall type tones. T7GpcOINf_o kHSNeylBuhQ

    You Tele guys seen this....

I really like my original style tele, but it sits at home a lot because my strats with H/S/S pickups are more versatile....well not anymore. :D This is one versatile tele and the bridge has a switch to split it. A tele that can do it all. The one I played at the music store played really well...

Kustom '72 Coupe clip using the direct out...

I'm not using a microphone and it sounds surprisingly good. Added reverb on the computer - no eq added. Using a Wolfgang Special guitar with the amp's gain set fairly high on the lead channel, backing off the guitar's volume for semi-clean. Sounds pretty darn good for a line out with built in...

Old VH Tone with ampKit in iPad (Second Attempt)

Just for kicks I tweaked the VH patch I made and posted last week and it's much closer sounding now IMO. It has a little more juice, gain, definition and pick attack. I don't think I could get ampKit to sound any closer so I'm done. I panned it hard left and only added reverb in the computer...

I tried making a You Tube demo of the Budda SD 18

If it sucks I'll try making another one. :D It's a nasty noodleramma...using the guitar's volume a lot. Using a strat I just built with a Dimarzio SD in the bridge - MXR 10 band EQ hitting the front - Nova System in the loop - 2 Budda SD 18's (but I'm just miking one)...it was loud. J14lvLPgywc

What's the verdict on the DOD YJM308?

I picked one up pretty cheap to try out. Can't try it out today though. Just curious...do any old DOD users like this one, or is it a not-so-great reissue?

Albums you love front to back...

There's not a lot of new albums I can say this about...is it just me, am I getting old? :D Here's my pretty much ultimate list of albums I love from front to back, may be missing some stuff. List some of yours to give me ideas. Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here, Animals, The Wall Deep Purple -...

Keep hurting a silly tendon in my thumb...

I keep hurting the tendon in the thumb of my fretting hand, sucks because I can't play guitar comfortably for a few days until the pain goes away. It happened a few days ago from just taking frozen pizza out of the freezer and then closing the freezer...all of a sudden...ouch!! Anyone else have...

Man I think the H30 is my type of speaker...period

I was experimenting today. I swapped a V30, a Weber H30 (with pre rola treatment), an English made Greenback reissue, a Heritage Greenback, and a Budda Phat speaker in the Budda SD18 combo and the H30 won hands down for what I like. I did that with my Peters Polaris as well a while ago and the...

    Any Steve Hackett fans?

IMO he is one of the most underrated electric guitar players. He had violin tone in 1972. One of those guys when he plays just a few notes you know it's him right away. I just picked up his new double live CD 'Live Rails' ....really great playing and tone, and the band is excellent. I think...

Pedalboard ready to go for tonight with new amp

I like doing this stuff, I find it relaxing. I moved things around and rewired it, also made a new snake cable for it. That nylon wooven sleeve stuff does well at keeping the 4 cable snake looking tidy. It's simple, but all I need. Pedals in front...Nova System in the loop...Budda channel...

    Budda

I've played them several times and have been wanting a Budda SD18 combo for a long while. I waited patiently and finally found a used one on Craigslist. It's the pre-Peavey version in minty condition. Great amp! It's going to see a lot of live use.
