I've heard it before. It's a cute saying with no bearing on....anything. I don't consider voting a worthwhile endeavor so I don't. It doesn't mean I don't have a right to be dissatisfied. The "authority" quote is easily defeated by the fact that EVERYONE in the chain of command is supposed to be following authority. The ultimate authority is GOD!
Do our so-called present day rulers follow God? NO! They are not authority, then. They are appointed by someone else than God.
What the quote actually calls for is for a non-anarchic society which follows rules and lives in peace with one another.
Some argue that we live post second coming and judging by the state of the world, the ruler of the earthy realm is in charge now for a short while. You can say that's just the way things are planned to happen but you can't expect people to respect and follow evil and evidently that quote doesn't apply to this.
