That's the point.

Booost and swoooooosh!
It is fun to play with some boost some times, the Nobels ODR-1 is fun with a Fender amp but when I am playing through the plexi, I need nothing.

2 is on tilt for you? You're an odd one.
But you have to post such that makes at least a modicum of sense so we can see what a clown you are. You're not providing the entertainment value you could be with this inscrutable post here.

Doubt there is differences between good parts, but bad or sloppy soldering can change the result.

Built a Telebird guitar recently that had a Switchcraft mil spec jack just kinda hanging in while I finished everything up.

I installed a barrel jack for convenience and it made the guitar sound far more accented in the upper mid range whilst removing body and a bit of low end. Wasn't into it.

Drilled out the guitar to fit the mil spec and now it sounds right again.

I went through a couple of other guitars I thought they would work well in, and they did as well, slightly shaping the EQ to a base I much prefer.

The only thing with the Mil Spec ones is they are super thick and the tabs kinda stick out. I use a set of pliers to bend em a bit straighter for ease of install.

Interesting, was the barrel jack a Switchcraft?

No, the barrel was from MusicLily.

I have some other switchcraft models/types and I have been running through them on different builds with clips to see which I like best.

I have some older types of Switchcraft and new.

The RJ11 types a lot of people use are really forward in the top end and midrange, which is a solid choice for guitar, but it does not have quite the thump and directness the Mil Specs have.

I have always just used Switchcraft. I never thought about sound, just reliability.

But also TBH, I don't think I would have the ears to tell the difference let alone the frequency range. Kudos to you bro.

I definitely have a weird set of ears on me. I think my unbalanced hearing actually helps me to pick out specific frequencies from each 'side' of the register as it were. Helped me in Ear Training when I was getting my music degree - that's for certain!

I know people tend to say they would not hear the differences, but there is also a feel aspect to it.

You ever picked up a guitar and thought it just had that sound you were looking for?

Example - my LP has some pretty snappy pickups in them, which I like, but had dulled down just a bit with .015 and .022 caps on the pups.

I swapped the jack to the Mil Spec, and the top end was still clear, but had more body to it than before.

Due to this, I experimented with caps and ended up just leaving them (and the tone pot) out altogether.

Before, I was not able to do that, with the new jack, I can.

I have a buddy in his 70s who told me he would not be able to hear the differences between the NOS tubes or what cables were being used.

He ended up being my partner in an extensive run of blind cable testing.

He could hear the differences between the cables and tubes.

Not only that, he could also hear the differences when we changed what ends were used on the same length of cables.

We use my Rivera on a snappy clean and it is stocked with NOS tubes - any little change you make is highly reflected through this setup.

Just saying - you may be able to hear and feel it in person a lot more than you would think.

Maybe, I have a good friend that is a musician/producer kind of guy.

Endless hours of knob tweaking at the board really turned me off to those kind of experiments. He laughs at me now because I don't want to touch any knobs or buttons anymore. I don't care where it's set, I am just gonna play. Even just turning the amp on is enough work.

But I get it, especially if you play kinda clean with a loud amp. But only us old dinosaurs do that now.

I do kinda miss those days now.

Funnily enough, my overall goal with this is to be as simple as possible - I just want the tone out of the guitar that I want direct to amp with no pedals or anything needed.

I have been successful by my own measure for that. I just turn on my amp and plug in and play!
