-tell me of another guitarist who has come full circle like ACE FREHLEY has,..

-back in the day,.. he was known as a "joke"... -(I remember when he was on the cover of GUITAR PLAYER and people were writing in saying it was an abomination to put ACE on the cover,.. and they threatened to end there subscriptions,...

-to be honest,... I have seen him on more than one occasion when he totally sucked!!! drugs? I don't know,..
but I saw him totally kick ass on the FREHLEY's COMET TOUR,..-(ROCK SOLDIERS KICKS ASS!!)-

-now a days it's "ok" to say ACE was/is a good guitarist,..

-how many here can say that KISS put a guitar in there hands,.. ME!!!

ME! KISS Alive II was my first album purchase at 7 years old. My mom took me to see them at the Forum in LA for my birthday in '78. Ironically I think Detroit Rock City is the only Kiss song I know. :dunno:
I got a black Yamaha SGB-200 for Christmas when I was 13. Gorilla practice amp! Tubestack mode baby!
I saw Ace play solo in SLC, UT at the Zephyr club in maybe '95? I don't remember being that impressed but I do remember him talking about using cocaine while he was talking to the audience. The thing I remember most was that Ace and his other guitar player kept turning up their amps and it was WAY to F'n loud for that little club!

If Ace had tone like that on the original, people would have been talking for decades about the "spaceman tone"! Sounds awesome. Love that tune. No matter what those greedy $ whores Paul and Gene think, there never would have been a KISS without Ace. He gave them the grit they needed. Love Peter's drumming too! As for guitar players crapping all over him, yeah he was sloppy and he mostly played pentatonics.... but he played the shit out of what he knew and I can listen to Ace longer than I can listen to Zakk. He is a legend!

Simple...it sounds incredible.

Question: what are the effects settings, such as reverb, chorus or delay.

You have what sounds to me like the EVH tone and FX nailed...I would love to know what FX are used and the settings...PLEASE!

Thanks.

Sounds perfect, don't change anything.

That is the rock tone that people have been chasing since Ace hit the scene.

PURE, UNADULTERATED MARSHALL GOODNESS !!!!!!

Thank you kindly Sir!!

This is the rock tone I've been chasing for years. It's the sound that's stuck in my head.

Thank you!!

I just used a touch of post reverb and that's it.
It's in the recording software I use called adobe audition cc.
The reverb preset is called concert hall crisp.

I was hoping I picked the right tune as not to bore people to death with the same old crap.

I like that "spaceman tone".
I think that's a keeper. :D

Thank you everyone for all the kind comments and sharing your Kiss experiences.

I was never afraid to say the truth that Ace was the reason I wanted to start playing guitar back in the 70's.

It seems he has inspired many others to pick up the instrument as well.

-did ya get the KISS tattoo's!!-

LOL, never did get one over the years.

The thought never crossed my mind. :)

That clip sounds great Michael! But, something doesn't look quite right about that LP...

Is that LP made with a long or short tennon? What's the weight like?

Thank you for commenting on the clip.

The guitar weighs about 9lbs and I'm not sure about the neck joint.
I don't know a lot about these guitars.
I didn't use that guitar in the sound clip, I used an black Ibanez RG with a DiMarzio AT-1 in the bridge.
The same guitar in the second clip I posted.
I only put that LP in the video because it kinda looks like one of Ace's old guitars. :)

I have a thing for Gibson Les Paul Customs! The finish looks great, and I figured since it had 3 sets of the double creams for pickups, they were the Dimarzios you were referring to earlier in the post. 9 pounds is pretty average for the weight. Mine range from 8lbs to 9.5lbs, so yours is right in there.

I've seen people buy LPs like yours, but I never heard anyone ever provide a review of what they thought of them. I always wondered if the construction techniques were the same as the Custom Shop or if the woods used were the same mahogany/maple that all Custom Shop LPCs have.

I took a stab at some Nuno Extreme tone as well.
It's still a work in progress tho...........

Great sound, I like it very much (though not 100% how I hear the original but who cares). If only Nuno would sound like that today...

Love nuno! Probably the best rythm writer besides early evh. He just had the mojo and feel. Leads well, off the chart there too. Incredible player.

Yeah, Nuno is awesome.

I want to try another Nuno clip but I'm not sure what tune to play.
Maybe He-Man Woman Hater? :D

That sounds pretty bad ass to me. Read through the whole thread but didn't see what the entire signal chain was?
