Sounds fantastic as always! Do you find them all to pretty much work with the exact same circuit or does each one need it's own tweaks?

Thank you!!

I always have a rough idea of what mods are needed but every amp is slightly different and needs circuit tweaks to get the end results I'm looking for. It can be the same Marshall model # and year but that doesn't matter, they all seem to need different circuit tweaks to get the best outta them.

Great sounding amp.
Can't wait to get my plexi back from the shop.
Are you running straight into to amp, or pedals infront?

Thanks ton for checking out my clip.
I didn't use any pedals, just plugged straight in. However I modded the amp myself with a PPIMV, one wire mod and a few circuit tweaks to give it this sound.

Seriously, one of the best plexi tones I've heard.

That's very kind of you to say, thank you.

So you really dig the ppimv ? Do you think it sounds better than an attenuator?.

Well, it's little more then just a PPIMV in my amp. ;)

I'm not a fan of what attenuators do for the sound of an amp, very flubby and farty bottom end and they will slowly destroy your amp over time.

So you would recommend a ppimv and a one wire mod on a 1959 reissue. I'm just about to buy one of these amps but I've been really been back and forth whether to attenuate or get the ppimv. My amp tech also recommends the ppimv. What exactly does the one wire mod do?

If you were to do a couple basic things right away to SLP what would they be to achieve the feel and distortion that is close to your vid?

It's funny, I just finished modding a 1959 reissue today.

I'll post a video clip tonight of the amp.
Well, it's more than just a PPIMV and "one wire mod" both will give you tons of gain but there's more to it.
You have to tweak the circuit to get the fullness and mojo from the amp once you've installed a PPIMV & OWM.

That's the sound I would like to get from this new amp. I guess you wouldnt want to share what you did ? The tweeks. You most likely live to far from where I'm at to do this stuff on my amp.

Yeah, I can do that for you. A lot of people are asking me for my schematic so here it is.
This is the basic outline of what I do, certain values can vary from amp to amp. Sometimes I have to rise or lower component values depending on what the amp tells me after I install this schematic guide.

That's awsome , thanks!! Will this relate to a 59slp? I know my amp tech will understand and most likely already know this stuff but for me its really cool to see. I guess this is the lar-mar ppimv? I think I will start with that and see where the gain is. I like using a pedal and wha out front so that may get me enough by it self. Glad to hear amps sound great with this mod.

That schematic is pretty different from a '68 Plexi, no? I have a 1959SLP (non-HW) that's already been modded. But I'd sort of like to "re-mod" it to that schematic.

Yup, this will work fine in your 1959 Super Lead.

I like the Lar/Mar PPIMV best as it's probably the most safest way to go.

Yeah, it's a little different from a stock '68 Plexi circuit.

This schematic I made has been my go - to for years now, I think you'd really like it in your 1959 SLP.
