Running through the gain options on the 1959 Modified vs Cranked Stock Plexi settings

Sounds good, Blake.
That's the sound for sure. Great attack, articulate clarity with chords.
Does it have the same cleanup with guitar volume as a plexi? One of the best clean sounds, imo.
Capturing the plexi sound, and a hot-rodded plexi sound that retains the best Marshall qualities, at friendly volumes...
Can't ask for much more than that.

Knowing how much you dig the JCM800, I'm curious about your thoughts on how they compare.

Shooting out my JCM800 with the Friedman Plex was a revelation. The JCM needed to be cranked well past noon to match the body and energy of the Plex. At that volume, it felt tighter, had a bit more zing, sustain, and it was easier to squeeze what I was going for out of it. The Plex had 90% of that at friendly volumes.

Judging by your video, the 1959 Modified has me intrigued.

Makes sense. The Plex has a PPIMV iirc

They’re great amps, just not my thing. I much prefer a more growly, open, raw and aggressive amp like a JMP or SL.
Friedman’s are too polite and polished for my tastes. Different strokes brotha 👍🏼
I mean that’s what I hear . I do think Jerry’s tone was too polite when using Friedman .

They're very well built, and Dave's a really nice guy, really knowledgeable guy

Yeah I think most of his amps are just too polite. Exceptions are the JEL, and the PLEX. I suspect the Jose, too, but I've never tried one
