guy had chops and pretty cool old Marshall tone!

another old schooler that shreds

he played this tour de force at our church. he had a lexicon jamman rack unit and line 6 dl4, boss dimension pedal and a pendulum preamp.

i remember every time he set up a loop with the jamman it sounded really pure and fat versus the dl4.

Drummer looks like grohl
Nah, way more Italian looking.... ;-) For a Dutchie!

Guitarplayer is Jan Akkerman; he was ranked along the lines of Clapton/Beck/Page in terms of 70's guitar-god greatness.
EDIT: Make that: Best Guitarist of the World, according to British magazine Melody Maker, 1973.

This was his earlier band, The Hunters in 1966:

it’s pretty cool to look back at the music and tones of that era. no dancers, light shows, costume changes, just jamming.

for me some of the most nerve-wracking moments of being a lead guitar player were having to play slower leading melody lines—essentially the vocal melody—with low gain tones. takes a unique mix of “i care enough to emote/i can’t let it kill me if i mess up” confidence and courage.

this 70s guy had a pretty decent following

Ed had a nice V there!

I have to say I didn't see that Tyrolian singing coming in the first clip :ROFLMAO:

you also have to credit prolific drug ingestion for the caliber of wardrobe experimentation back then 🤣

jeffrey’s dry fuzz and funk sensibilities also clearly denoted the shift from rockabilly surf guitar to the psychedelic rock invasion of hendrix and co.

under the radar but played with big names, makes great amps and killer tone guy

The recorded version of this song is a fair bit slower. My understanding is they only had 5 minutes on the TV broadcast, and everyone assumed they'd just cut the song down like on a single release. Instead they just played it faster to get through the entire song.

.....though the idea that they were just high as hell on coke and thus going that fast is a better story.....and it does look a bit like it.
