Wait. At 3:18'ish on the original Focus tune, look at the high E string on the fretboard. Is that extended?
 
My dad introduced me to Jan Akkerman and Focus. He had all the cool prog on vinyl, some pretty obscure stuff too.

Jan made an impression on me because of his unique style, obvious chops, and the way he picked, he sounded like he was possessed.

I think he’s more popular in Europe, but he has recorded albums consistently, many under his name as a solo artist/band leader. His catalog is prolific, and varied as far as different styles. The Jan Akkerman album my dad played for me was in a fusion direction.

Pretty sure he’s still at it to this day.

i noticed that and just thought it was some les paul knockoff brand with a funky fingerboard.

It’s pretty funny that Hocus Pocus was their “hit.”

That song is weird to be on a prog album LOL. On the radio though WTF?

The riff and solos are epic though.
