The necks on these new Charvels feel and play great. Are they the right tint of oil finish? Not straight out of the box.

they all have that imitation Highway 1 fake wood look though, if they play great, that's great! I just don't see any wood figuring at all on those fake wood type necks Fender puts out.

Have you seen one in person? It's a quartersawn maple neck with grain running down the length of it. It is subtle though. And the color is light. I don't know why? Maybe they're actually fake maple formica? You have to admit you are a pretty picky guy about guitars though. What's your success rate so far with Charvel style builds done exactly to your specs? 20%?

I'm picky too about certain things. Tint of maple and figuring per square inch are not on that list though. Neither is gig bag quality, fortunately.

Well for the first time we disagree...except for that orange paint.

It's not the first time we've disagreed hoser. You said that Loverboy was the singlemost, greatest, most visionary, most influential band ever in any genre of music and I called BS on that. Obviously it was Helix. You'd think an iceback would know that.

Damn Chub...that is one bad ass looking guitar! I'm serious...flat out love it!!!

If you part with it...I got DIBS please!

Sorry dude. Jaeptus called dibs first. I sell stuff all day. I can tell when a guy is tearing something down because he wants to beat you up on the price. If Jaeptus passes, you're next. ;)
Haha well let me know.

I like it, now you just need to get a real wood neck for it.

Hey buddy, I know Charvels:

And before Home and Garden channels interior design star RandyVanSykes chimes in, the couch was in a rehearsal studio and wasn't in my house, ever

Adam and I had a private conference about this room earlier... Here is the result...

That fingerboard is too clean. :gethim:

I'm going to go change my oil and not wash my hands and come back in and play it. I hope in 27 years it looks the same as the neck on a 1982 Charvel looks.

$1100?

I did relic the gig bag. I dropped it on the carpet, a mouse ran over it and it disintegrated and blew away in the wind.

Hey Chub, how do you like the Hybrid in that guitar? Been thinking about making one myself, just not too sure about how the product sounds in a strat body.

It's funny, for a couple of years I was into guitars that were just beautiful like these:

Now, I like 'em ugly.

I'm with chubtone on this
Eddie Van Halen & Brian May didn't need fancy $4k guitars to change history

organic, flawed guitars does it for me

PS
relic looks cool and will look cooler as time goes on

donbarzini asks if you reliced the gigbag

:gethim:

I dig that look bigtime  I would love to rock that guitar!

I don't have enough time on it through my big amps to give a solid opinion. It sounds great through my practice amp. If I don't like it, I have a Duncan '59 from the 80's or a Duncan '78 to try also.

I bumped mine in the classifieds, just waiting a good relic job, made with real wood and paint

  :hys:

First off, that guitar looks sick, I would rock the shit out of that thing just the way it is and I would leave the D-tuna on.

Second, if you ever decide to sell it, please send me a PM.

I think it looks rad, and I agree with you about liking fucked up guitars. Maple top stuff doesn't do it for me. I would definitely rock that Charvel. I wouldn't mind having a middle position sinle coil. Though I love the idea of the push/pull changing pickups!

BTW, tell those fuckers at Charvel to start making lefties! I'd buy one immediately!!!

Bah! I had 37 different people on Rig Talk whining for over a year that as soon as Charvel builds a So Cal in white that they'd be on it like white on rice. Yet, strangely I haven't sold a single one on here. A bunch of teases you all are, I tell ya.

i still like the robin blue the best. that color just screams for a hardware upgrade from the 80's :D

Oh the irony, cause white is exactly what I want!

Although I wouldn't mine a rattlesnake skin finish, to get my cheese out on. :hys:

Will they actually make a H/S/S with a 5pos blade? Or is their some deal with Fender that prevents them? I just love the idea of having a H/S/S rear loaded with no pickguard.
