I'd bet that all the peeps who can't stand "fizz" dial in a dark tone in comparison to guys who like bright, cutting tone and leave the damn Marshall 'bright cap' alone..lol. When you have a good amount of presence or treble for a brighter tone, at lower volumes yes it sounds a little 'fizzy' or whatever term you want to use. But at a decent volume you need that live, and the fizz is no more.
Modern tone fans, at least some of them seem to dial their amps so that they can be buried by the Bass.
Lol
I would call the sound in the OP video pretty "modern", myself.
That being said, I don't find his sound fizzy. I just don't like it
To give an idea of my personal "brightness vs darkness", I hear a lot of people talk about dialing in Splawn Quick Rods with the Presence and Treble way down. I play with both of mine in the 1 o'clock area, and mids in the 2-3 o'clock area. Gives a tone not far off from the CCV clone in Scottosan's sig. Just to give an idea of the tonal 'hood I live in.
If I'm going to speak harshly about the sound of some of his stuff, I would say that the guitars sound undefined, and lacking shape.
A lot of you are just making assumptions that people who don't think "that sounds awesome" are know-nothings, who don't play anywhere, or do anything.
