This time the ESS EL OH goes up against my Mesa Boogie Blue Stripe....

Enjoy!

It might as well be a damn donkey show when the video is set to private...mmm, donkey show

I gotta go Mesa here
I love the SLO but to
Me for the style your playing here drop D metal riffs
It's not the SLOs strength

Both sound killer. That Soldano, though. Bad ass. Which head is going through which cab?

They're both going through that Stiletto 4x12.
Both heads set to 4 ohms, Soldano through the top and bottom left speakers, Mesa through the top and bottom right.

All speakers are the original Vintage 30s.

But, let's all not forget, two amps produced in the 80's that both sound killer right here. Have many amps made since then really topped this type of tone for metal or rock?

How the fuck does the MK 3 sound that good with that eq scoop? Are the control knobs floored?

Yep I was worried I might have set them up with a bit too much treble.
Until I start doing this properly with something like a Torpedo/cab sim and DAW it will be into the humble Samsung S7.... :/

Thanks. I really need to try some Mesa V30's with my SLO. I'm using Lynchbacks (mostly) with I these days, and they do sound good. Maybe a bit too polite. I'm kinda missing the in-your-face nature of the V30's.

Haha this has made my day! Thanks mate.
From memory Treble and Middle were up around 7 on the dial. Presence dimed on the back. Bass set pretty low on the dial.
I'll take a shot of the front panel when I get home from work.

I like V30's for that more modern bitey type sound.
That 2x12 Recto cab under the SLO has an EVM12L and a C90 Black Shadow in there. All those amps there sound freaking crushing through that 2x12. I'll be using that on our next album I'd say, one mic on each speaker and blend it baby, blend it goooooood...

I mean I put a graphic like that and it's scooped as hell! Yours is not????

Maybe it's the V30's pushing the mids harder? What speakers do you use with yours?

Mark III for the win. So far Boogie 2, SLO 0

Also, used Mark III cost $800. Used SLO $2,000+. lol.

Great comp and recording quality

I own both of these amps and this is a pretty accurate comparison

The SLO actually is not a very tight amp straight in as compared to the MK as the Vid shows
Add a drive pedal and things really come together for this kind of rock/metal with the SLO

I don't mind that tonality of the SLO.
It's got that roar/squelch going on constantly in the background. I guess that's what gives it that low end grind.

That's just the voicing of Mark series amps. Putting the EQ like that doesn't actually scoop it.
