Am I responsible for modifications that I did not mention in a listing?

I find it funny that people actually think they can maintain their "own" policies on Reverb. You're at Reverb, and/or Paypal's mercy these days - they define the policies. If people think "I don't accept returns - that's my policy" holds water - good luck with that. Especially if it's not as described or important details are conveniently left out.

This jackass may have posted pics, but you know full-well he pulled a fast one not mentioning this said hole, hoping the buyer would miss it.
Quick Reverb Story.

Sold a Strat I bought mint in the same condition, also as mint.
Guy who bought it finds out the original owner had changed the middle pickup.
He wants to send it back for the full refund - east coast to west coast.
I offer to pay his local authorized dealer to bring it back to stock. Nope.
I'll toss in gas money and a lunch while they work on the guitar. Nope.
Straight cash equal to the cost of 2 pickups. Nope.

Reverb sided with him.
If I'd have listed it Excellent I would have won.
I always suggest paying for the seller protection. I bought a pedal recently that had a reverb and reverb/delay switch. In the reverb only setting, there was oscillation a few seconds after you quit playing. It wasn’t horrible but if OCD would drive you nuts. I reached out to seller just to ask if he had any suggestions. I didn’t even ask for a refund. He had paid for the seller protections service and contacted reverb. No questions asked, they offered me a refund, 50% refund and keep the pedal, or take to a service center for quote. I just asked for a refund. The email me back and told me to keep the pedal and have a full refund. I reached out to the seller and asked if they took his money back. He said he got the same email and that he could keep the money. I’m sure it’s $$$ dependent, but I’m sure it pays for itself in instances like this for a seller too

Was not done through reverb or PayPal?
Reverb purchased, paid through PayPal. I have disputes filed with both. I'll wait for their response, but I'm not waiting long. I can't even get anyone on the phone from PayPal. Filing with my CC company will knock Reverb and PP out of the process, so I should probably wait to see what happens, I don't know?

I thought all purchases come with buyer protection?

Having gone through this I advise against you doing the card unless all else fails. I did a PayPal dispute and a CC dispute. PayPal ruled in my favor in one week, the same amount of time as my bank and the banks took money from PayPal after they already gave me money. It jacked my account for almost 10 days because transfers to balance take forever.

Yes, I was taking about if you SELL something and purchase the shipping label through Reverb, there is an add on for Seller protection, in which they deal with the customer to remedy the situation on your behalf. This doesn’t apply to you, in this case , but I’ve seen it be mutually beneficial to both buyer and seller

Can ya post a photo from the original listing where the hole is visible?

The seller purchased the label through Reverb. It was designated "signature required" and UPS left it at our door. They didn't even bother to knock.

I’d just sit tight. I’m confident it will come out in your favor.

That’s happened to me more often than not with the many amps and guitars I’ve received through UPS. FedEx is usually better with that, at least IME

Is there a 3rd button, or a hike where it was?
3rd button. Had he posted the guitar at an angle where both knobs were visible, I'm sure I would have noticed it. At this point, it's beyond the strap knobs. Possible swapped pickups, stripped PG holes and a bent tail plate. How the tail plate could be fixed, I don't know? The TP is secured by what appear to be nails. Screw head caps, maybe? My '58 Hamer Vector TP was secured with screws.

If that's the only pic that shows the strap buttons I would have missed it too. Very misleading. And I would be more than pissed when I discovered otherwise.

Edited to add, I found the listing. There are other pics with the third button. Still not sure I would have picked up on that during moments of GAS but it should have been disclosed. I'd file with Reverb for not as described. Very Good there means "items may show a few slight marks or scratches but are fully functional and in overall great shape." I take that to mean not modified/damaged.

Yeah... I should have been more attentive. I've sold a lot of gear over the years, and never once did I not list every detail. The seller said; "I am usually a buyer, and I want to treat you like I would expect to be treated." He offered to pay to have the hole filled, which was cool, but that doesn't resolve the fact that the guitar was modified. The pickups and the bent TP are an entirely separate issue. I plugged the guitar in, and no, the pickups do not sound like Custombuckers. My 2018 R7 had CB's... These are not same. These sound like '57 Classics.

I noticed the 3rd strap knob while I was researching the '59 Flying V on YT. The video I found just so happened to be the same guitar. It was then that I noticed the additional knob. When I asked the seller if he knew about the 3rd knob, he replied; "I have only played this V sitting down. I never really thought about the strap buttons. I have only had this one for about a year, so I have only played it a few times." The YT video was posted in June of 2021 as a pre-sale review, so how could he have owned it for 1 year? Irrelevant, maybe... I asked him about it, but he ignored the question.

It was at this point in the Guitar Chimp video that I noticed that it has two forward strap knobs.

Here's a pic of the bent "V" tail (string guide) plate. As I said, you can't just unscrew the TP from the body. Not that I can tell anyway.
