Am I responsible for modifications that I did not mention in a listing?

Could be two different versions.. The E versions are lower output Custombuckers. If you still have that R7 pull a pup and see what the sticker says. The tone difference could be the guitar too....I've got a Les Paul that started life as CC#29, which was then serial wiped and sold as a Wildwood Spec 58' that was then supposed to have Custom Buckers installed vs 57's that were originally in it as a CC. There are no stickers other than the PAF on those pups, but they don't sound a thing like the verified 57's in my one owner 07' 339.

Who knows, bottom line is that's a bunch of cash to spend, if you aint happy send it back and get your cash. That black one I posted is sick and a few hundred cheaper
That black one is hot! Yeah, plus a Flying V is an acoustically louder guitar than a LP. I suppose that would have an effects as well. Thing is, the WW Custombucker set in my R7 had a neck p/u that was a joy to play. This neck pickup has that muddiness of a '57 neck p/u. I just don't know?

I'm the buyer of the guitar. I failed to take notice of added strap knob. I should have noticed it, but I didn't. I asked the seller to re-route the guitar back to him for return and refund, but he refused. He feels that "Message me with any questions or more photos" was sufficient. I sent a message that I will consider keeping it, if he's willing to renegotiate the price. It's a fine guitar, but it's been modified. The "V" tail plate points have been bent slightly upward as well. I've sent pics of the pickups to Gibson, in an attempt to see if they may have been swapped. The labels look like they were peeled-away and placed on an alternate set of pickups. I could be wrong, I'm not sure? Both pickups read 7.4 Ohm, but that doesn't tell me much. It would be nice if Gibson stamped their p/u for ID.

FWIW I have owned numerous Gibson pickups, including E Buckers. My E Buckers did not have the bucker sticker over the PAF sticker (it was located in a separate part of the pickups) and my PAF sticker came intentionally heavily worn and seemed scraped away. The E bucker label was starting to peel on mine a bit but was firmly in place from the sticker glue--they did not overlap at all though.

If the neck and bridge both test at same reading there was a mistake made at Gibson... 7.04 is right in the range those E pups were supposed to be for a neck pickup. Entirely possible two neck pups were installed.

Yeah that black one is sexy AF. I'd chase that.

What caught my attention is the tearing at the corners, as though they have been removed and reapplied. The soldering on the volume pot, along with the insulation, looks messy to me. Not what I'd expect (or seen) from the Gibson Custom Shop.

While I have seen some highly questionable things from the Gibson custom shop (I've owned 5?) in the fit and finish department, the electronics are one thing I have never seen anything goofy on before. Definitely not to that extent.

Yup. The way the leads are piled on top of each other is a first for me. I'm waiting to hear back from Gibson.

I had both the '58 Hamer Standard and the '58 Vector. They were great guitars, but IMO they don't sound as good as the Gibson models. The Hamer body is thicker, which I assume affects the sound, I'm not sure? The thicker body was my main gripe... Not as comfortable to play. I tried several pickups, but I still prefer the original Gibson version.

With help from Nick at Reverb.com, we tried to reach a number that the seller and I could agree to... but, it didn't happen. It is a fabulous sounding/playing instrument, but, it is just not worth what he is asking. Not to me anyway. As far as the pickups go, if they are not original, whatever they are, they sound great. I sent pics to Gibson last week, but they never got back to me.

With the hole drilled for the third strap button and bent string plate, I requested a final sale price of $3765.88. He feels he can get more for it. In this crazy market, he may just do it. I wish him luck.

Whoever drilled the hole could have at least centered it...

I sold a newly received guitar once just because it needed a new strap pin location badly. But I didn't want to drill one and have to explain it later when the day came to sell which would have surely involved a financial hit and hassles because of it..

I've done the same, more than once. The seller feels that the hole isn't a factor when it comes to value, obviously.

I bet he did when he bought it. :)
He said that he had owned for nearly a year, but there's a "Guitar Chimp" video on YT from July of 2021 of the very same guitar. The mod is visible on the video, so I assume that the seller may be this Guitar Chimp guy? I asked him about this, but I didn't get an answer.

Sweet. Now get in touch with Banker immediately and get your Gibson Authorized Korina V. Every report I've read of that guys stuff is glowing, gotta believe his attention to detail will smoke the Gibson CS.

Already done. I'm actually thinking about a black Banker Explorer with cream binding. One that looks like Lita Ford's Hamer Standard.

Check this out... I'm not digging the binding on the back, but the front looks cool.
