We've all (hopefully) seen the classic AC/DC album cover If You Want Blood and the accompanying music video where good ol' Angus gets impaled by his SG... Well looking at it again you can see the neck pocket has a bolt on neck plate! Now I'm not a huge SG guy but surely, especially back in the late 70's, Gibson didn't make bolt on SGs so I'm assuming Angus either had some replacement neck either made or found and decided it would be easier just to do the replacements via bolt on as opposed to getting the original neck out, gluing in the cut off neck then taking that out again for original (or cut the original neck and have to glue in the replacement)... That's just a level of dedication and zero fucks given I have to commend haha and I'm assuming that for broke dirty Australian rockers they had some decent money around that time but not ruin your nice SG for a music video pre MTV money!

Some players transcend gear. Angus is one of them.
He would rock no matter what he played. It's in his DNA, now he's in ours.

Looked like the headstock had binding too on the impaling SG.

wow bit of train spotting going on here

thanks for the link man I haven't heard that song since about 1986 ... forgot how great they use to be

Angus shouldn't give a fuck, for he is Angus.

Not sure where in the vid you see the neck pocket. The vid is pretty low quality, as is my vision these days. If you are talking about the impaling guitar, it was a POS knock off that got sawn in half for the album cover photo shoot. Below is a pick from behind, and also the show rider advising the band to bring extra clothes, because things were going to get messy.

Right fuckin' on. Absolute favorite song to play in a tribute a few years back.

Thanks for the reminder.

Cool pics vr1.

Again....for me personally....AC/DC is the greatest rock band ever!
Just energized and kickin ass from start to finish. Watch them live and see.
Pretty simple stuff....but most the time SIMPLE IS BEST. :D

That's a trip that they shot that after a gig at The Paradise. I saw many shows there when I was living in Boston. Plus to see them in a club that small must have been quite an experience. A real standout show was RATM touring for their first album. Atomic Playboys I saw there as well. Ironically, many years later, living in San Diego I played in an AC/DC cover band with Perry McCarty (singer for Atomic Playboys) who had an awesome take on Bon Scott. He was a good dude.
