Technically you shouldn't post a replica's headstock with the "Gisbon" name on it as they may pursue your builder with a cease and desist order. Then no one would have a decent Les Paul unless it was 50 plus years old.

hyperbole much?

I'm guessing it wouldn't take Gibson very long to figure out who's doing that without people posting headstock pics and even without the front pics they still see the open book and the exact body style which I believe infringes on their trademarks.

Why does anybody give a shit what the front of the headstock looks like??? Just use your imagination folks. It's not that hard. These are the best replicas being made. If it was that important to Gibson, they would follow suit. Only an idiot would suspect these are actual Gibson guitars. That is not how they are sold. I have NO DOUBT mine is not a Gibson.

The "thief" comments are as ironic as playing in a cover band and not recognizing the artist of every song you play that you didn't actually write.

Wanna see the front of the headstock so badly?? Pony up.

People choose not to show the front of the headstock to protect the builder in case somehow the work is traced back to them by a party looking to litigate. A body shape is probably not going to be as much of an issue as a logo. Isn't that pretty easy to understand?

All of this "show us the headstock" stuff is just a passive aggressive way for people to show their fake moral superiority... I guess it's best for folks to not show these guitars at all to avoid this... It's too bad... they are pretty amazing...

...And for the record, no one is going to mistake these guitars for a real '59, even when they are aged and have real PAFs - any savvy buyer with that kinda coin would know it was a replica when they look in the cavity or take out the pickups. And as far as re-sale, you'll get more money naming one of these builders, rather than trying to pass it off as a R9 or something...

NO ONE is being hurt by these guitars, especially Gibson. Many people who own these own Gibson Historics and the folks that don't own a Gibson wouldn't buy one anyway... Personally, I own a really nice Custom Shop SG and have owned an R8 and R9...

Steve

I was the one that asked to see it and wasn't being passive aggressive. Just wanted to see the whole guitar. And like I said earlier I'm sure Gibson wouldn't have much trouble finding the builders without having the headstock pics posted. And I can't imagine them worrying too much if the builders are only building a couple a year. I wouldn't think that would be cutting into their profits much.

Well, maybe in your case you aren't trying to show your moral superiority, but from the comments, you can't argue that some are... more people are talking about it than just you in this thread, and frankly, this happens almost every time someone posts a replica... it turns into a shit show...

Also, how would anyone know who built it with enough proof to hassle them? There are at least a half dozen guys doing them. And as I said, a logo is going to be much more likely to rile someone up than the body shape. Doesn't that make sense?

Out of respect for the thief. They're accurate replicas.

Fixed it for ya.

Be funny if Gibson hadn't done it first.

Like Steve said, the moral code around here is amusing.

And just in general it's a pet peve when people don't post headstock pics. Regardless of the guitar (clone or not). for me they make the guitar.

Sorry. Typo. Meant to say "back OR front". You know. The back of the guitar. Or. The front of the guitar. And most people know what the back of the headstock and the back of a guitar looks like yet they get posted. I just don't see the harm in posting them. I guess I'm too stupid

Man, you are something else. Are you looking to be argumentative just for the sake of it?

Let's say they DID figure out who it was SOMEHOW (I never said it was IMPOSSIBLE) or that someone outed the builder with pictures of a headstock with a logo (perhaps by mistake with the box it shipped in in the background with his name on it or something)? That would be a bigger problem than a body shape. People tend to be more protective of registered trademarks. That's why people choose not to show them.

I'm done arguing with you. You either get it now or you don't... Either way, it just isn't worth the trouble really. I don't know why anyone has to justify how they post pictures of their guitars to you anyway, man...

Bottom line - if you own one of these expensive replicas, either don't bother posting them, or prepare for the shit show...

Steve

No one has to justify anything. This is a DISCUSSION board. Just having a discussion. Not sure why everyone has to get their panties in a knot.

Ohhhh!!!! I guess I should have used my imagination of what you really meant!!! My bad! It had to be spelled out for me
Just taking a guess here.......but, I think people show the front OR back of guitars to show the craftsmanship, wood grain etc....
