I don't but that for a second. Seems I touched a nerve though. When people start with the name calling it's a really good indication the ground they are standing on is very very weak.
Name calling?? Your RT name is Ejecta correct??
Anyway, extremely profound last sentence!!! I didn't quite understand your first sentence though?? But hey, I'm an Okie. Regardless, I will step lightly and take a good hard look at myself....
After I play my replica of course....
And the "douche" following ejecta wasn't aimed at me........riiiiiiiiiiiight.![]()

Damn!!!! You caught that?!?! I will address that in my upcoming Replica Anonymous meeting. I am extremely judgemental at times and say stupid shit when I don't really know what I am talking about! I will work on that![]()

Wait.....at closer look it looks like it's been done in Photoshop. Oh shit just when it couldn't get any funnier.
Why don't you go bitch at Slash with your self-righteous, sanctimonious bullshit. His main guitar during the greatest success he had was a high quality replica and he's a Gibson endorser...ejecta":1ynaft5h said:bonedarrell":1ynaft5h said:I didn't have a choice as mine was already built when I bought it. Look you guys can try and rationalize it all you want but it is illegal because it violates a protected design and logo. There is a reason why people don't show the head stocks and mention the builders. It's because they have something to hide. If it wasn't wrong then there would be nothing to hide.

I don't feel the need to rationalize my guitar at all, nor am I bothered by your dumb posts as far as my decisions go. I just hate when a guy's NGD gets derailed with this crap. It isn't necessary...

Slash has nothing to do with this. Wow... The mental gymnastics are amazing around here.
Again if someone took your amp and made an exact copy of it right down to the logo you'd have a shit fit and you know it. You'd have every reason to be pissed and take legal action to make them stop.
Absolutely amazing the irony.

Slash has everything to do with it. If you're just talking moral code and right and wrong or whatever, Gibson did it first. Instead of filing legal action about it, they took a replica made by a famous builder, which was much higher quality than what they do, made a copy of it and sold thousands of them....thanks to that replica. It's not about right and wrong to them, it's about MONEY. If Gibson could get these guys to come work for them building guitars for cheaper that they could sell for $20,000, you bet your ass they'd do it.
I have a replica as well....not of this caliber, but better than pretty much every Gibson I've ever played, including my '89 Custom. Gibson couldn't build what I want, so I went elsewhere.
Also for the record, Steve's designs are online IIRC.....he's encouraged people to build his amp, so you have no argument there. As far as amps go, I don't think I've ever seen anyone rag on someone on RT for having a custom amp built to copy THAT tone and putting a Marshall logo on it, even though it's clearly not a Marshall.

This too...what kind of person decides 'hey, instead of just leaving my nose out of it or congratulating someone on something they've gotten and always wanted, I'm going to go in and shit all over it because I'm that moral and upright?' If it bothers you so much that there are 18 guitars built in the world every year that say Gibson on them and they're not, why even bother posting in the thread?
You really think that because you say anything all the guys that have gone through countless guitars looking for something that Gibson can't give them are really going to change their minds about ordering a $10,000 guitar built to their specs and built by one guy in a shop? Are you just trying to amaze people with your moral standards or are you just trying to make someone feel bad because they're doing something you don't morally agree with? I don't smoke weed, but I don't feel a need to justify it to the people that do. So what if it's illegal? I'm not going to get into trouble for smoking it, because I don't smoke it. I don't try to jump on a moral pedestal and preach to the people that do, either. Is it REALLY so hard to just bop in and say 'hey, HNGD man, that thing looks great' or NOT come in and say nothing at all? THAT hard?!
Man I remember RigTalk as being a place where people could come and talk about gear.....seems like every other thread gets derailed by this bullshit anymore....whether it's political or morals or just someone basically whining about how their $400 amp is just as good as a $4,000 amp or whatever. Now you have to justify your gear purchases too?
'I got a ______, you guys! REALLY stoked for it, sounds great, easy to record with etc....'
'Man, I can't believe you fell for that hype....the ________ blow and the dude that runs that company is a crook! You should return it and get a 5153!!!'

This board used to be full of useful info and guys that would help you out when looking for a certain guitar or pickup or amp, or even fucking SELL you what you were looking for. The gear bashing and moral outrage around this place anymore is really pretty fucking lame. It's playing guitar, not raping fucking babies for fuck's sake....motherfuckers need to get their priorities straight.
Also: HNGD OP. This thing is badass.

I like looking at guitars not so that's why I looked and read through the posts.
That was Gibson's right to do what they did with Slash because they own the design and had the right to choose whether go ahead and work with the builder or ask him legally to stop.
I think it's so ironic to see so many people even ones in this thread who cry and bitch about downloading music and services like Spotify because you claim it rips off the owner of that copy righted material. But when it comes to a guitar it's ok to make an exact copy of that down to the logo and offer it for sale.![]()
I find it very telling that all anyone has done is attack me and not pose any well thought out counter to why making excact copies of a copyrighted guitar is ok within the law.
Oh.... and it's so stupid that pointing out the illegality of this is seen as shitting on a thread where you guys are praising a guy for buying something from a thief. Wow.
we bomb. muder ruthlesslessy, set up dictators , kill THEM, and destroy the lives of millions to get oil for this country...are you not pumping gas? or are you only concerned about guitar luthiers?

I got sick of the dramatics here for a while and stepped away for a bit. Took up archery and joined a forum to see what's up in the archery world. Same shit, different pile. The world is just crawl'n with em. You're one of the good ones as far as I'm concerned and you deserve this.
Happy NGD!
You should go on the mountain bike forums its even worse...those with the least talent have the most expensive carbon fiber gear.. and the condescension, as a result, is pretty funny...

Excellent point (actually your whole post was great!). I've never seen anyone say one damn thing about putting a Marshall logo on a clone, but, boy, these LP replica threads bring out the morality force en masse. Could it be that there's a bit of jealousy at play because of the cost of these guitars? I dunno, but it certainly is interesting that there are never any complaints about the Marshall logos people stick on just about every cheapo Ceriatone clone... or the Charvel or Fender logos they stick on their Musikraft/Warmoth, etc. builds...Steinmetzify":2mxdloib said:As far as amps go, I don't think I've ever seen anyone rag on someone on RT for having a custom amp built to copy THAT tone and putting a Marshall logo on it, even though it's clearly not a Marshall.
