Remembering the Pat days of CC.

I've had a few opportunities to hear the rigs up close and personal. Absolutely, oblerating tone. The fattest, cutting tones I've heard come from anything Mesa ( or Recto for that matter ). I took some tips - modded my Recto loops ( w/ EQ) and boosted the front. It's night and day, absolute essential to retaining all the thickness but non bloaty low mids and zero fizz.Out of all my Mesa's, nothing compares running my V30 and EV cabs.

Anyone else fans of Pat 'round here?

Pat's a pretty laid back dude. Jack was too but he was bored and Pat was the hungrier guy in the early 00's. Much better player. Hell, the guy was in Monstrosity for a minute around their 2nd album. Thats some challenging shit. Great taste in those Bc Rich and Ran custom shops.

@RaceU4her Right on! He was forever using Keeley modded MT-2s for boosting the front. Assuming PQ4 was most likely in the loop.

CC is what dragged me into Mesa's. Decades ago, a friend of mine had a Mark but when I heard what the triple recto was capable of, I was sold and it was my dream amp for years. After getting a triple rec and a Maxon St-9 a few months ago, I noticed that that's what CC uses; I was convinced they were still rocking dual with metal zones.

I know CC is not everyone's cup of tea, but their riffs were always very complex and super technical. I am glad they found a replacement in Erik Rutan, but also Glad that Pat is back on track. Would be a shame to waste all this talent. The dude always had a killer tone, regarless of the band.

I'm glad he's back doing something. I admit I didn't like the first two singles off the new Exhorder album but the rest of it is good, such as the following song. Elsewhere on the album there is some tasty and surprisingly melodic leadwork on quite a few songs.

Years back I remember reading Pat had apparently used a Mark III for recording of GoS. One of my favorite albums and recorded tones of CC ( especially on the GoS title track itself). Such fantastic atmosphere.

Could be true as I remember some of the Nevermore stuff was Mesa Boogie Mark IV
