Any Recommendations Comfortable Guitar Straps?

Chad, I went through this exact search a few years ago, and found the solution to be very simple: wide strap. That's it. I tried lots of padded straps and several gimmicky things, but nothing helped if the strap was 3" wide or less. And nothing else was needed with a wider strap.

Just find a leather strap that is 3.5" or 4" wide, and you should be set. The wider strap distributes the load over a larger area, so the felt impact of the guitar's weight is lessened. I got one of mine at Guitar Center and the other in a bargain bin at a smaller guitar shop. Basic black leather, but they do the job perfectly.

I couldn't have chimed in better myself.. If you want something custom or one of a kindish.. Check out Etsy.com and search guitar straps. Generally they have several hand made 3-4 inch straps up for grabs.

Onori padded leather straps for me. I have some nice Levy straps too (leather and suede), but the Onori just feels nicer and is more comfortable IMO. They're priced a little lower than the Levy's stuff too from what I remember. The padding isn't over done and the leather has broken in very nicely. I've had mine for years and it's holding up great.

Mine is the L7P:

The most comfortable strap I ever used was a 4 inch wide cloth and leather wonder strap from a company called Silver Eagle. I can find no evidence on the internet that this company ever existed so I'm guessing that they went out of business a long time ago.

I have a Silver Eagle strap and they are unbelievably comfortable , mine is brown knitting like material . I too have tried to find them and have had no success .

Levy wide rolled edge leather straps are great. They have about 1/4 inch thick internal padding so they have a little give but not too much. Mine are about 4" wide at the shoulder spot, and taper on the ends. Nice pliable high end leather that looks like a nice leather jacket.

I would have never bought one because they are a bit $. Steve threw one in with a guitar I bought from him and now I have a half dozen of them.

A great Levy strap is like the $150 too end Asics running shoes. You don't know how good they are till about 2 hours in. Then you get it.

I am so jealous of you right now.
Mine was black rough weave cloth with black leather ends and the slots in the back piece to adjust the length with. Black/Black and the leather was soft enough to not scratch anything but tough and plenty heavy duty enough to last forever.

I stopped playing guitar for a while and sold all my gear. The strap and the guitar it was on went to a good friend and one day it all disappeared when his rehearsal space was robbed.

PS - Take a picture and show me some of that good guitar strap pr0n!

Thanks for the recommendations everyone! I will look into them. I know it is all subjective but appreciate it.

Ernie Ball black nylon.

I have a nice Levys leather strap I use for heavier guitars and bass.

It looks like you use Andersons. I assume they're Strats. I assume they aren't heavy??

I use the straps that came with my Andersons (just like the basic EB straps with his logo). They are fine but when I play at our shows and practices I tend to get shoulder fatigue where the straps hit my left shoulder. Something a little more comfortable that is wider would be helpful.

Do a few shoulder presses with weights while your sitting on the couch watching TV drinking beer and eating chips. ;)

All my guitars use Jodi Head guitar straps... Plenty comfy to me, and hand made in New York if you're into that sorta thing

I'm thinking Gayle Winde. I have one of her padded straps, the ergonomic design, it's great and she's definitely worth checking out.

I use for guitar Levy 4" bass straps and its hands down the most padded and comfy leather strap i've owned!!

Old post, but thought i'd update with my thoughts anyhow... I use Ethos straps. They are a high quality strap, but can be modified to any width or length, if you need that specific customization. They are also super comfortable and help to distribute the weight of your gear, weather its a heavier or lighter guitar. http://www.ethoscustombrands.com
