Any of you own or have played a Rivolta Guitar?

I was catching up with a friend of mine who I consider to be a great player and has good taste in tone (also a total gear head) and he told me that he recently acquired a Rivolta Mondata. After owning it a couple weeks, he also purchased the baritone model. He said that they are easily the best import guitars he has played and described them as unbelievable in the $1,000 price range. I know these are offsets (not always popular), and some may consider them "tan pants" guitars, but I wanted to see if any of you had ever checked them out:

Never tried one, but it looks like a Reverend variation that are made in South Korea.

I’d bet money they’re made in the same factory.

I owned a Reverend Jetstream 390 that had 3 P-90 pickups and a trem.

I paid $900 for it, and I was totally disappointed in it.

I ended up up selling it and I’d never buy one again.

I don’t know if this is a better made guitar, but I personally wouldn’t pay $1000.

You lose your ass on resale of these guitars, unless you never plan on selling it.

Definitely a tan pantser but that’s ok. Fano designed. I believe the Eastwood guitars guys are behind it. I’ve seen one guy play them around me who usually plays duesenbergs and PRSi and he’s a good player so there’s that. I was into those shapes prettt hard about 10 years ago.

On the Reverend note, I had a club king I bought from them direct. Awesome guitar. My brother in law has a six gun and it’s equally great. And my brother has some tele thing from Reverend which is also nice. I have picked up a few that weren’t set up well though and if that was my first impression of them I would hate them.

I think they are hideous, but I've played a handful of them. My buddy has a couple of them.

From my experience, the ones made in the world factory (South Korea) have really great QC and are good guitars, even though I think they look idiotic.

The ones made in indonesia (The Duocata and Regalia? Those are two I know of) are much, much more hit and miss. My friend who loves the brand basically immediately sold the two MII ones and kept two MIK ones.

That could be small sample size? But it jives with my general experience of QC from every import brand i've played or worked on, not just Rivolta, so I'm pretty confident in saying "If you want one, buy one of the WMI ones."

AFAIK the Mondata is one of the WMI ones, so it should be solid, if a little overpriced for an import.

First of all, dot inlay at the first fret? Instant fail right there. There's no recovery from that.
Secondly, whoever likes this shape will invariably find 24 fret necks repulsive.
Lastly, it looks like the aftermath of Homer Simpson's car "the Homer" fucking an easy bake oven that someone slapped a guitar neck onto.

When he visits and wants to play, he kept asking to use my blue Jaguar, and he rarely asks to use one of my guitars.

he'd usually bring his black Fender strat with maple neck I got him several yeas ago when he asked me to teach him how to play guitar.

He took this red Jag to school to play instead of his strat.

I'm with Gary on this one, I hate a bunch of things about the aesthetics. It certainly doesn't hold a candle to a classic jaguar.

Especially the headstock (ick) and the split pickguard. It looks like it's more pickguard than guitar. I don't care about the first fret inlay.

he's busy with school and his girlfriend, working out, time with friends, etc., college life....so anything that makes him want to play more guitar is welcome....

he's going to inherit all my gear eventually anyway, whether he wants it or not.

Yeah...I confirmed that they are made in the same Korean factory as Reverends and certain PRS models.

I'm surprised by this...I have heard nothing but positive feedback on Reverend guitars

Every one I have played has been really awesome. I have had friends and students buy them under my recommendation and they were never disappointed - nor was I when I played them. Guitars are all individual - gotta have a dud sometimes. Probably my fav modern imported guitar line.

What might have happened and I can’t confirm this, is that the model that I ordered came standard with a maple neck and I wanted rosewood..

Well the guitar shipped from Korea yo their US shop and they swapped out the maple to rosewood for me.

Maybe after switching out the neck they didn’t set it up properly.

Anyway something wasn’t right and I played it a few times and then let my son play it for a while.

Neither of us cared for the way it played or sounded and it stayed in its case until a guitar purge.
