I gotta agree the OD channel def is something that hurts the amp overall, I wish they made it with only one channel.

I disagree. The HRD has a great dirty channel. Maybe not for typical hard-rock and metal tones, but it works great for adding texture and grit.

It certainly does do that and do it nicely, but to me the heart of the amp is the clean channel. When I played it, the dirt channel was very nice for blues OD, but really adding heavy gain gave muddy sounding sounds. Perhaps I bashed the amp on too broad of a spectrum. Def, a clean/mild OD centered amp and does it well. Not so much for super gainy sounds, but to fair you don't buy a fender for that lol

I've always wanted a Fender combo for cleans in a multi-amp rig and to use as a small travel rig w/ a pedalboard for jamming/sit in gigs.

Hot Rod Deluxe.

Probably the best purchase I have ever made. I don't use the dirt channel, but the cleans are to die for. Takes pedals really well too.

You avoid the OD channel completely or just use it once in a blue moon just to remind yourself its there? I gotta agree the OD channel def is something that hurts the amp overall, I wish they made it with only one channel.

marshallmel, awesome amp! sounds great

I try it out from time to time, with a mild OD sound, and it's goodr just that. But I can get the same with some pedals and using the volume on the guitar, which also gives me more sounds... So I go for that. Plus, there is something magical about that clean channel.
I don't play hard rock or metal, so I don't really need a lot of gain anyway.
