For lower gain sounds the YJM rules. Why take a JVM or a EVH ?
I had the JVM410. Same experience. Sometimes fine, sometimes thin and cardboardy. The EVH is a better amp in all aspects. Running the Blue on low or the green in high gain will get you to those low gain sounds pretty good.
But the best for those things is the YJM. Roaring Plexi with a built in boost, reverb and noisgate with moderate sound levels. No brainer. The boost is great and you can get to high gain territoríy with it easily. Takes pedals well too. But it's not for the faint at heart. It will show all your playing weaknesses if there is any. If you are in good command of your instrument, it's a tone monster.
