Anyone order a Kiesel in the last year or two?

Beware though, I think that the extra options that you can get over the phone make it a custom order that can't be returned. If you stick with the online selections, you're safe to send it back it within their return period.

there are some customizations in the builder that will trigger a no return instrument; such as a fretless bass:

I don't really spec my guitar out planning to return it. With my Jackson, when I saw the picture of it, I saw how they had gotten shit wrong despite a form that was filled out going over the specs. But I fell in love with it and had to buy it anyway. Fucking guitar makes me smile everytime I play it.

If you can get that with any guitar, that's a win.

I mean, seriously guys. Could you reject this demonic beast?

looks like you're missing a pickup and trem.

sweet guitar!

If I can get a Kiesel Allan Holdsworth in my specs with a Piezo bridge (not in the builder) for less than an EBMM Majesty 6, shipped in less than 4-5 months (I'm traveling later this year), I may finally buy a Kiesel.

waiting to hear if a Piezo bridge / saddles on the hipshot headless tremolo bridge is an option. The Majesty can blend the piezo with the magnetic pickups too, and they can be used independently...I haven't found a guitar that's more versatile than the Majesty so far, that has everything I want (except an internal GK-5 divided pickup)

Wasn't that the past issues with them, people getting guitars with specs they didn't order and or Quality Control defects???????:dunno:

I thought it was mostly QC issues? Some, missed something after they placed their order and were unhappy they couldn't make changes, IIRC?

Do they have excessive build times? Like a 5 year build window????:p

Sounds like you are doing your due diligence on the matter.:2thumbsup:

the website says it's 8-14 weeks currently, depends on models and specs; for example, they only do sparkle finishes when they have enough builds because of preparing and cleaning the paint booths; or if a certain wood top isn't in stock or other supply chain issues. The more common your specs (no fancy top, solid or metallic paint), standard features, the faster the build time.

K-series have the longest build time because they're considered flagship customs, and Jeff is heavily involved in the build; I think he may have a few email/phone conversations with the customer IIRC?

edit: also if you pay in full, your build moves faster because they don't have to chase you down for the payment before shipping. I think they offer an expedited build for a 10%+ charge.

Before I do an actual order, I will call them first, get everything sorted out, and ask them for a final build/spec sheet in writing, and use that to submit my build, and I'll pay in full.

oh thats cool. But are they all without a head stock? I have one of those goofy steinberger basses with no head stock and it just weirds me out lol. I hardly touch it.

Fuck! They forgot your headstock? These custom shops are getting out of hand.
Haha, the only reason I got the steinberger bass was for nostalgia reasons. I had a steinberger spirit guitar that my niece was very drawn to when she was about 3 or 4 years old. She loved that thing for some reason. I ended up giving it to her when she turned 10.

I had an original 1988 Steinberger XL2 bass that I purchased new; finally sold it a couple years ago. Way ahead of its time, even today.

My fav modern bass, headless and fretless; Ibanez EHB1005F; even better that it's not some shade of shitburst brown like nearly all Ibanez basses especially fretless:

...and the infamous Ibanez SR700F in flat shitburst finish, the only color option. Great bass, shitty color

I had the fretless 5 string version of that shit burst Ibanez. I stupidly sold it. Much regrets. It was quite awesome. Now I have a fretted 5 string Ibanez with bartolini mk1 pickups. It’s cool, but doesn’t quite have the output of the fretless for some reason.
