Is he doing new projects? I haven't gone looking for info on him in a while but I thought he basically disappeared so I'm curious where you go the info.

The Barry Goudreau solo album is my favorite by far of the ex/post Boston albums I've heard. This is the album that the record company put a sticker on the front saying "featuring members of Boston". This made Scholtz mad and he sued, fired Barry from Boston and got the album yanked from stores so it never took off.

That's a heck of a statement, particularly since I think Orion The Hunter is fantastic. I just bought the Goudreau album on ebay. Gotta love that Razor and Tie has re-released so many great, yet under the radar albums.

I did security for a Boston show back in 08 or 09, and Tommy was doing vocals for them. He has Brad's vocal tonality, but not his range. He didn't even attempt some of Brad's most notable high-note moments, and instead left those to the female bass player, who shared vocal duties with him. It was a good show, though. Scholz's tone is just cool as hell.

Mostly due to these stupid shows like Glee and Sopranos.. money money money... wake up guys. Make amends , come rock.

And just what is stupid about the Soprano's ? :gethim:

They probably sold a few million downloads of that song just because it was on the show's finale.

I guess if missing someone from their original lineup makes you not interested you could just stay home. As it goes in the music business, if someone quits or dies...other people don't necessarily want to give up something they put their lives work into. Success may vary...

Even that guy they found that was on Walk On was pretty good.

the Journey story just flat out pisses me off. whats the deal boys dont you realize your reunion would most definately be the biggest draw out of all the reunions. Mostly due to these stupid shows like Glee and Sopranos.. money money money... wake up guys. Make amends , come rock.

Does Perry still have his voice? I know he had some serious issues years back and he's been completely out of the scene for quite some time, possibly because his voice is in no shape to sing any longer.

Really? Where have you heard Perry sing recently, Jerry?

I was fortunate enough to see the original line-up at one of the Texas Jams back in the '70's....amazing!

Almost through the Goudreau album. It's great to hear Brad's voice and the album is O.K. but I like Orion the Hunter much better. So far Dreams is my favorite. On Cold Cold World now (last tune). Pretty good tune.

Every Boston line-up I've seen has produced a great show. Gary Phil has been with them for a LONG time and has the stuff down. Everything else is fairly non-complicated. Their bass player (Kimberly?) handles some of the old Brad high vocals. Basically, I don't think Tom would bother stepping on stage if it wasn't going to be up to expectations. Not like he's hawking product or a new album. Just playin' for fun...

sorry for the thread digging... but last night was finally the night. I thought it was a GREAT show. They had a younger guy playing bass, not a girl, and the real high vocals were handled by a 3rd guitarist, but I thought what Tommy did sounded dead-on. They all played/sang their parts well, and of course played all their hits plus a lot more. They didn't play anything past the Walk On record, though (thank goodness). The sound was perfect, the guitar tones were huge, and it looked like they were having a blast.

I think the wall of amps in the back were just for show. I didn't notice any mics on them. Knowing Boston's history, I wouldn't be surprised if they ran everything direct.

Here are a couple of clips for anyone interested.

I saw them on the tour with Micheal Sweet. During the show they had some problems with their guitar rig, and had to stop for a little while. Tom came up to the mic to apologize, and said something like " sorry, but Gary & I are the only ones that know anything about these rigs" Still, a great show and Styx was awesome, too. JY was not there, for family reasons, and Tommy carried them.
