I know nothing about her but something's amiss here.

Raw-fruit diet IMHO should be stellar in-theory.

I'm guessing she had some sort of autoimmune or other big issue going-on.
No it's not. It's good at warding off scurvy, but it leads to serious nutritional deficiencies. Some guy claims to have lost 77 pounds in a couple months eating only raw fruit. Great if you're a fat ass, but not so great if you're normal.

I understand the conventional wisdom on the matter mate; I was all over this stuff 40 years ago.

Consider as an example the couple (married, unrelated) who ran 365 marathons in a year. They ate only fruit. Nobody's been able to come remotely close to such a performance. They experienced zero injuries. They had so much energy they ran from the Melbourne CBD to Warrandyte (home, 30-odd kms) upon completion of the year-long task, just for the heck of it.

They were both in their 60s and as I mentioned, genetically-unrelated.

I think it all depends on your DNA and body type. Some people I know have been vegetarians most of their lives and they look pretty good. Some people eat only meat and they look pretty good. I would argue a vegan diet is much more risky in general, but some people can manage with it. It's not a "this diet is bad for everyone" sort of thing. I learned the hard way years ago that I need a little meat and bread in my diet.
