What are you guys using to push your AxFx? SS or Tube amp?

Carvin TS-100 all tube power amp. It's been great. No problems and I've had it a year now. Gets turned on just about every day. It's plenty loud and I run it in stereo to my 2X12 cab.

Where do you place the it in the signal chain? maybe I'll screw around with it this weekend but it will help to get some help from you before I start screwing around!!

The pitch shifter is at the front of the chain first block. Used the "advanced whammy" mode with pitch tracking on to downtune the guitar. I believe it's in full step increments i.e. -1,-2,-3 etc. You'll be impressed!

Thanks!!

Holy cow man! You haven't dinked with that setting yet.. Pitch shift is the best for making your stuff sound thick as hell in my opinion your going to love it!
It would be the first effect in the chain. You want to micro pitch tune so a lead sound would be like -007 cents left and +007 on the right, a little less or more depending on what you like and want. I like to run around 15-35 percent mix depending on how strong you want the effect to sound and how loud you are running your wet cabs. Just give that a try if you haven't and report back.

Nope! I haven't had time to try it but Im on it!! I'll try it this weekend!!

Is it the first thing in the block or do you use it after the amp sim? I just want to make sure!!

What shift do you use? Detune?

Ralf I don't have a AxeFx yet, I use a MPX-1 in to Mesa 395. So hopefully I'm not talking out of my ass here.
I would use it as first effect block, like before delay and reverb if your using any, not after the cab sim or power amp voicing. The effect is called "Shift D" for dual pitch shift on the MPX-1. This is so I can fine tune in 1 cents.
What it comes down to is you have to try this Ralf!! If you like the Lynch REH videos or even 80's guitar solos and guitar tones there littered with the pitch shift effect for beefing up the sound and making your sound, sound almost double tracked at times, single notes almost seem to sound like chords. I love this effect if you can't tell.

Hello Jason!

I used to do that years ago with pitch shifting in my live rig! I just wasn't sure how to do it with the axe-fx because everytime I tried using the pitch shifting on the axe-fx, it sounded bad..... because I had it in the wrong place!! Im going to experiment with it this weekend and I'll let you guys know the results!!

Solid State. Using my ADA guitar rig: B200S power amp (solid state, 100+ W channel) and two ADA 2x12 slant SplitStack cabs per side. I have the Axe-Fx cab sim off. Selling some gear, including this ADA set-up, and plan to get a set of active FRFR PA cabs once I have the money and the room from selling some of my current gear.

spam, spam, spam, wonderful spam (thinking Monty Python as I wrote this)

I started with a carvin DCM 1000 and wasn't real happy at band volumes and got drowned out a bit and it lacked some oopmh.
Got a VHT 2:90:2 and it gave my sound a big kick in the ass.

When dialed in, this combo destroys. I had been using it exclusively lately and brought a "boutique" tube amp out from storage for a few practices and the axeVHT held it's own and actually was better in a lot of ways.

You are speaking my language!! I am really having fun replicating tones for the coverband!! The only thing I haven't gotten into is the pitch shifting!!

Advanced Whammy? I don't think I've seen that mode on an Axe-Fx Standard pitch shifter  . If you mean whammy mode, that one does not have step increments, but % of an octave or two.

When I want to downtune, I don't use the whammy mode, but the intelligent pitch shifer, and then I set the step increments I need. I think it sounds pretty good for low power chords, but when I play notes high in the fretboard, I can hear "wierd" things, artifacts, chorused ghost notes... Have you succeeded in using pitch-shifted with leads (100% wet, no harmony)?

I have had my Axe-FX since June 2008 and I still love it. I use it through an EV SXA 360 at home. Live I run direct to the mixing board and back through the monitor. Great sound!
:D

I got one bank of presets that are set up going down in half steps...and the glitching is gone after messing with pitch track and making sure it's set to 100% wet.

The Axe-Fx has replaced my live rig, studio rig and practice rig.

... and yes, I'm still very satisfied
