Hmm, tone wise, Id like the be able to cover the following ground : Overdrive Marshall = GNR, Maiden, and some Bonamassa.
Clean tone wise, I love the Gilmour clean tone, and how it can be layered with pedals. A very nice clean tone with some warmth to it. That is why I was gravitating to Fender, since Hiwatt and Reeves are out of the question for me.

It would need to be an amp that likes SC and humbuckers too.
Def nothing wrong with Fender, it doesn't always have to be Boutique and cost twice as much as its worth to accomplish something. I would say that some don't know and some forget how awesome a simple Deluxe Reverb with a couple of decent pedals can be, start there for your cleans and see if you even need another amp or not.

lets say for the sake of this tone quest, that there is no budget ( NO SLO though   ) since I will be doing this over time.

Well, if you can't swing the SLO, clearly what you need is a Soldano Lucky 13 with DeYoungs :D

Seriously, that's the single amp that most closely matches what I think you want rather than the SLO - they have kinda blah cleans IMO. But it's not much cheaper than the SLO.

Shoulda got a Wampler Pinnacle and put it on your Tweaker ;)

I am selling a Engl Gigmaster if you are looking for a low wattage head... selfish promo ;-)

Another vote for Egnater Renegade. That amp surprised the hell out of me!

Like others have said and some additions:

Egnater Renegade
Mesa Royal Atlantic 100
Fryette Sig:X
Line 6 Spider Valve Mk II
Hughes & Kettner Triamp Mk II
Brunetti 059
Landry LS100
Peters Dual Channel (Halo & Hydra W/ KT88's)
Egnater Tourmaster 4100
Marshall JVM410H

I can keep going but, the bases are pretty much covered with these. I've played them all and haved owned/own about half of them.

From what you're saying, you definitely need to try a Peters Polaris. I'm in Metuchen, and you're welcome to come try my amps out. A friend has a music school that we jam at a lot in Edison.

May take you up on that time permitting among other factors. thx for the offer !

Im liking the list! I guess the JVM is what I should try first, considering it will probably be the easiest to come across whether its the 205/210 or the 410. Thx for the suggestions my local rig talker

No budget?

PT 100.

Does exactly what you describe. Well. :D

have to be honest, the clips sound killer!!! If I am not mistaken, aren't they coming out with a new pt 100 soon, or am I thinking of another Suhr amp?

And another vote for the Renegade. The chunky little 1X12 cube combo really blew me away. If I didn't already have Bogner and VHT (Fryette) amps, I'd definitely be looking at the Egnater. I still plan to get one eventually regardless. What a fat-sounding, cool little Marshall/Fender amp. And plenty loud for home or even most gigs.
