Bad men made me play little 1/2 stack DRY..........

  • Thread starter Thread starter Digital Jams

90% of the time I play dry. 10% with a little delay. I mostly use delay to quell the volume on my QR (volume trick for those that own a QR ;)). Don't even own a reverb unit. I do set the amp for a crunch and hit it with the OD808 or SD1.

I always record dry. Add delay in the mix for the leads only. I told you this how many years ago Scott?? Like what 7 years ago?? LOL! :D

c'mon man, that's good for you!

I agree. I play dry all the time. 1/2 stack with just a boost pedal. No verb ever. Very rarely a delay. I add that all in the mix. I actually don't even like playing with that stuff. I want to hear what I just played. If it's clean enough, I will reward it with verb and delay in the final mix.

Sack up Scotty. Dry is where it's at. We're approaching the age of needing adult diapers. It's time to change your thinking about wet vs. dry.

Curt,

If you jumped into a 911 GT3 and had a closed section of shoreline cali road and I took away the sound of that Boxer 6, the feel of the steering, and made the car an automatic you would feel what I felt.

I thought you cared bro.

Absolutely this. If you cant get along without your mammoth w/d/w rig, all that extra delay, verb, and stereo spread is just covering or compensating for a basic lack of ability. You gotta own your playing on a dry amp. The extra shit is often unneccessary (albeit fun) filler.

OK, I knew what you meant Steve.

Hmmm. I wouldn't walk out of the house without at least grabbing my small board. Baked TS-9, Tuner, Carbon Copy.

That'd be downright silly.

I DO care bro. That scenario you just gave me did cause me to cringe. I think you have it backwards though. The dry amp is like a GT3RS or RSR. When you add your supersoaker effects to your rig, it's like putting sound deadening, paddle shifting, electronic stability control, comfy seats, GPS and all those other electronic nannies into the untamed track car to make it civilized for normal consumption.

Go bareback Scotty. You may have to concentrate on something else for a while to help you get used to it. Baseball might work. Depends what you think of dudes in tight polyester. It might not help at all. ;)
