Like I said contact these folks. http://www.beatstreetmusic.net/index.php?cPath=350_351 They should be able to help.
Yeah, I'm waiting on a quote from them on the SL. Maybe any new USA BC Rich needs to be ordered. I'm gonna keep my eye on ebay as well but ebay is flooded with imports.
It will. Any USA is a Custom Shop model. They are one in the same. Made by the same folks at the same location. It may save you some money being that they alreayd build them, as opposed to you coming up with a special order.

I did not know that. Wow, I thought they made some USA models to stock at dealers.

I don't know exactly where they're now built or by whome exactly. I know back in the old days theyre was the a shope in CA and the shop "down south" in TJ Mexico. Some guitars where made completely in the USA but a lot of guitars were... well the body and necks were made in the TJ Mexico factory then shipped up to the El Monte CA factory for everything else. These were also sold as USA BC Richs. Mine is very probably one of these. These are great guitars. About as handmade as you'll find. There is nothing cheap about them.. If you can get your hands on a USA made BC Rich(even if it was partially made in Mexico) do it. One of the best guitars ever!!!

Well, I didn't get the Slash model...I just couldn't come to terms with having another Floyd Rose guitar. However, I did go nuts and get a pretty classic alternative (big pics, its not the Ibanez  ) :

So far so good. I did have an NJ Mockingbird, which now seems to have been 5 lbs heavier and two inches thicker than this new one. It plays very nicely, I dig the shit out of it so far!!!

Its a Handcrafted Koa Mockingbird Supreme.

This is probably my 3rd brand new guitar I've ever bought.

You should have made a new thread for this guitar. Looks so damn cool.

The ST's are imports but they are a good bang for buck and built pretty well. I have a couple and after replacing pots and pickups they are great guitars for the money. I also swapped out the black ST hardware to gold

Those are sweet locking! What kinda pickups you got in them?

The Special X is Duncans, Custom in the bidge and Distortion in the neck
The ST is DiMarzios, ToneZone in the bridge and AirNorton in the neck

How is the Special X? I've always thought that BC Rich cheapened their brand because their lower-end stuff was so bad. But I keep hearing that these new imports are quite a step up and more along the lines of the fit/finish that the import Jacksons and ESPs have. Actually a lot of import stuff has come a long way...just BC Rich was the last in line possibly.

How does it balance. I had a NJ and thougth it was a little neck heavy. It always wanted to be horizontal, and I like my guitars at more of a 45. I felt like I was always fightng to keep it where I wanted it.

Yeah, if you let go of the neck it likes to arrange itself as you say horizontally. The neck doesn't dive to the floor or anything. I think I'd attribute this more to the placement of the strap button than anything else. However, while I'd probably move the button on an NJ, I am going to leave this one the hell alone, at least until such a time where it gets to have a few little scars and doesn't feel so new any more.

I"d think an Explorer would exhibit the same behavior. I have a fairly new Gibson, and the previous owned did in fact move the upper strap button from the back (similar to its placement on the Mock) to the more normal spot on the front edge of the upper area...where the top horn would be on a strat-shaped guitar.

both the Special X and ST are well built, Korea is the new Japan for guitar building, China is the old Korea :) . Yes they are on par or better than Jackson and Charvel imports

I love the look of Mockingbirds, but does anyone else feel they really dig into your ribcage when played sitting down ?

Hmmm, I haven't noticed that. I am not, ummm, slight in girth so I'd think that would cause me to notice it but not so far. I suppose it depends how one hold the instrument when sitting down.
