Never owned one and probably will get very limited use on just a couple songs

Any advice would be appreciated

Well, the new Sterling JP70 might be worth checking out....cheaper than the real EBMM anyway. And, besides the purple & green shown here, they will also have a black one available through Guitar Center or Musician's Friend ( or both) exclusively.

Yeah I was hoping they would be the same price as the Axis or Silo Sterlings....but the JP70's are gonna be around $900 :(

Yeah, that sucks. Higher than I thought they'd be.

A lot of people talk trash on Schecter 7 strings because of their supposed baseball bat necks, but I've found them to be quite comfortable. I sold mine off (Hellraiser), and then missed it and bought a used one from guitarcenter.com for $499.

The Hellraiser is a great player imho. There are two gently used ones on musicianfriend.com right now. One black, one white.

If you can find a used Schecter Blackjack ATX 7, they're very nice as well. There's a used one at the Colorado Springs store with a BKP Warpig for $569. Item #108389588.

Check out a used Ibanez RG7620. The ones from the late '90s are very high quality and sound great.

dunno your price range, but the Schecter Blackjack ATX C7 is a phenomenal guitar for the money. seriously.

Buddy has a beat up 7620 for $350, Is that too much?

I'd say go check it out. Let yourself be the guide.

I got a 7620 off of ebay for over $500 and it was a good guitar. Found a 7620 at the pawn shop for... wait for it... wait for it...
$100 plus tax. A little beat but had an SD invader 7 in it (win :D ). They had it marked for $329 or something like that. As i was playing it, the guy at the store says "make me an offer". Nobody should ever tell me that! I said ok but i'm gonna insult you... rest is history.

I liked the pawn shop 7620 some how more than the fuckbay one. Just more playery? :dunno:

You can find 7620s for a range of prices, but they usually sit between $300-400 stock. A little more with aftermarket pups. I have several and love them. They stopped making them around 1999, but you can still find some in excellent condition. I sold off all my RG1527s except one.

About a year ago I took three RG7620s and put one together with the best neck, body, and trem. This is now the best guitar I've ever played. After selling off all the other parts it cost me next to nothing.

I have the Schecter Damien Elite 7 that I got for under $500 at a pawn, and it's a decent guitar with a mahogony body, EMG's, and string-through body. My only complaint is the nut/strings at the not are slotted just a little high so that the overall action is a little higher than it needs to be, so I'll be fixing that. But IMO it still feels, plays, and sounds much better to me than the Ibanez 7321 that I tried before it at the local GC.

another vote for a used japanese rg76xx, or rg74xx. i got my rg7421 for $350 shipped and he's a great workhorse instrument. just factor in a pickup swap if it has the stock pickups.

^This x 100,000

It's a no brainer.

The PRS SE 24 7 String will be out in a month and Sweetwater will have them around $740. That's what they told me in the 4 voice mails they left after I sent an email about the release.

another vote for 7620. I have BK Miracle Mans in mine and it sounds fantastic!

ESP/LTD offrered a 4 series 7 string that was really a killer guitar for the money, but I can't recall the model type. I compared it to a Schecter Diamond Series 7 I had upgraded and the LTD was more comfortable to play, both close in finish work.

'Nother vote for RG7620. That's an mid to upper level guitar that has a GREAT neck, and can now be had for next to nothing. They are essentially a Universe w/o a pick guard. The stock pups are pretty cool as far as stockers go. Those guitars were like $999-$1100 new-now you can find a decent condition one for $500 or less.
