Best bang for the buck 7 string?

I'd say a used RG7620 or RG1527, used Blackjack, or a Carvin. There's no way in hell I'd spend $900 on an MIC JP model, when there are superior options from other companies, either used or new.
 
hmmmm no one has mentioned Agile guitars.... They are hit and miss sometimes... But I've played 6 of them that belonged to friends and I've never thought they played like shit at all. VERY awesome for the price.
 
I have an Agile Pendulum Pro 8 string and it plays like a dream. I do hear stories regarding Agile and neck/fret problems. The owner of the company, Kurt, is a stand up guy and did not hesitate when I needed to exchange a previously purchased instrument for the Pendulum.

Another vote for the Schecters, the Loomis 7 string plays pretty nice.

I have owned 7 string guitars. I would not buy anything under 26.5 scale again. especially if you want to do drop tuning like drop A or drop G#. The strings just get to big to get decent tension when you play 25.5. Even if your playing standard its nice to have the option to play a drop tuning without putting huge strings on them.

the JS22 - 7 and JS33-7 (quilted top) are the cheap 7s, i'm interested in the JS22 myself which is super cheap, 26.5" or so scale length, looks like:

i would probably suggest going for an ibanez however
 
I picked up a Washburn X7 (or something like that) for like $119 brand new at GC. DROPPED in a Dimarzio X2N7 bridge and Blaze neck and it just SLAYS! For cheep!!

I have a stock RG7620 i wouldn't mind getting rid of. Has a few dings but plays great.
 
If you could find one of the older LTD F, H, or M 307 or 207 models I don't think you could find a more solid guitar in that 200-400$ price range

they come stock with some shitty pickups but the guitar itself is amazing for the money.

You also have the loomis which is great but a little more pricey considering its only an experiment/knock around idea.

Also the ibanez 7321 can be had used for $150 if you keep your eyes open. Saw one on my local Craigslist for $80.

I'd go with LTD though. I've had 3 of them and enjoyed them very much

I stumbled upon my RG7620 a couple of weeks ago and its amazing. I have never been a 7 string guy but it definitely has great feel and tone. Stock pups are fine but everybody wants a little more. haha. Seems to have a factory treble bleed mod. The 5 way switch keeps many options available. I giggle a little when I set the switch in 2 or 4 position and do a little chicken pickin. hahahahaa Now I wanna start an Outlaw Country band with a 7. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm..........................nah!
Not sure if Im going to keep it but it sure is fun for now.
