MXR Pro Series Cables are great and are in stock there and stupid affordable for the quality and sound overall and can't go wrong with their LiveWire Elite cables either :dunno:

The overwhelming majority of cables in my rig are mogami with either neutrik or gh plugs, but I have some planet waves that have been spectacular. No doubt in my mind they are as good as other hyped and high end brands
There was a 10ft Planet Waves cable included with the last used guitar I bought a few years ago. It’s the most choked off, noisy and shitty sounding cable I’d ever tried. If I could solder jacks to it I think a shoelace would give me a better tone.

Maybe I've been really lucky. Never had issues with cables before. Had a dimarzio cable when I started out that was noisy from stepping on it but aside from that, I've never had an issue aside from a ground loop that was easy to fix

I think Planet Wave bought out D’addario cables a while ago which is why I recommended planet waves. I use a D’addario speaker cable right now and love it.
I have some of those cheapo d'addario cables with the molded ends and they tangle up really badly so I'm not a huge fan of them.

Mine are thick as rope, steel screw on ends, and never tangle. All companies try to meet everyone at certain cost points. You’ll get what you pay for in quality cables though. I vouch for them and they have lasted decades. If you expect their best don’t buy their worst.

I bought 2 of these and they both shat the bed on me after 1 or 2 gigs. Which sucks cause they were pretty inexpensive

Right on have MXRs with spilled water/beer, stepped on, played on stage going 5 years now.

Great thing too they don't tangle up vs most cables too. Great quality and great price too IME but YMMV.

The grey cloth covered ones right?

No those are the Woven Series I think now defunct and replaced with the Stealth Series cables.

The Woven were supposed to be same as a Pro but with Woven Jacket and Gold plated plugs but IMO they didn't sound as good as the more affordable Pro Series. The Woven just sounded realy stiff and had some weird boxy midrange IMO.

The Pro Series just sound nicer IMO, don't cost a bunch and yeah are tangle free too. They just sound spot on IMO and I use these as well along with other cables I rotate.

The pancake patches are a deal too. You can get a 3 pack of the patches for less than 15 bucks.

I hate the Planet Waves stuff, but I've had great luck with the D'addario American Stage cables. They are all owned by the same company, but the American Stage cables are build different. They are a quality proprietary plug made by Neutrik and soldered to quality cable. They are really low capacitance and have been great to me. Ditch the Planet Waves stuff and get the American Stage cables.

+1

Then I will specify in more clarity that I run D’addario speaker cables and mogami instrument cables even though Planet wave owns D’addario which is why I stated planet wave above.

D'addario owns Planet Waves. D'addario is the good stuff, and Planet Waves is the affordable line.
Damn I had it totally backwards and didn’t even know it. Thanks for the correction! Going to edit my OP

I meant cheap as in piece of shit quality lol, the D'addarios were more expensive than my Kirlin ones which are like 20 times nicer.

These too as said, old school pancake, cost nothing and better than decent for less than 13 bucks for a 3 pack....... nicer than your Daddario, Strukture, Hosa or Planet Waves or whatever other affordable patches on average IME.

Use the same cable that come in the Pro Series too......

And not at GC but if your looking for an arguably nicer patch than your average budget patches for the money BTPA is not a bad choice relative to others on the market, really low noise, low capacitance and pretty great quality IME.

These are nifty and come with SP500 plugs and their guitar cables for the money offer a lot of added value too and overall pretty quality stuff relative to alot of the market.
