I should preface that I'm a huge fan of the SLO-100, both in the design, quality of the build/attention to detail and the tones it produces. Awesome to play as well.
Just curious what everyone thinks are the best recorded examples of it? The only one that comes to mind for me is this:
I just love how massive the chugs sound (especially in the chorus) , and overall it has this awesome chewy crunchy character that still sounds upfront and crisp. I'll get crucified a bit for this but everyone always mentions the George Lynch and VH Soldano stuff, but those tones just don't really do it for me. The playing is incredible and IMO thats what people are really attaching to. Maybe when it was released it was a pretty cool new sound too, but for my tastes I don't think those ones have aged that well. Given the fame of the amp, I don't think it really does itself justice on many records (I'd lose count naming recorded Rectifier or 5150 tones).
Lots of the Youtube stuff sounds OK, but never seems to bowl me over, even from guys who get great tones
