Anyone running Creambacks in an oversized Bogner 2x12 of a 4x12 in x-pattern? I know the cab has much low-end and I'm afriad if I order 2 Creambacks that it'll get lost in a band mix. I have a 20th Shiva and always have liked the sound of it much more with a "Greanback" type speaker.

Also, I would bust buy one Creamback M65 and throw it in there with the V30, but the V30 is 100dB and Creamback 65's are only 96dB. Has anyone mixed these two in a Bogner OS2x12 or have Creambacks in a Bogner 2x12. Now a 4x12 I can uncerstand, but with a big 2x12 cab you gotta be carefull about the dB loudness of mixed speakers and the low-end too. All else fails I can try running the Creams in X with my Small Block loaded Splawn 4x12.

in my experience, the v30 dominates pretty much every other well known speakers
I'm currently using a scumback m75 65w with a chinese 150w fane hiwatt speaker in a hiwatt 2x12
they blend quite well (they are probably around 97db) and the cab is pretty small, so the bass is not overbearing
I've tried a lot of combinations in the marshall 1960 I had, and was never successful with pairing the v30 with anything below 100db, except some scumback h75's, which are 99db (but the v30 still dominates it)
I never had a problem cutting through the mix with greenback types, or even less midrangy models, like the c90, but in the same cab, the v30 will most likely eat your creamback
you could pair the m65 with a 70w celestion v-type or a traditional G12M if the low power handling isn't a problem

Yea, I've never had any luck with mixing speakers either except a V30 and T75 Celestion. Only reason I'm concerned is that the Bogner 2x12 is big and has lots of bass, but also has lots of mids and highs. It's just a beast. All else fails I can put the M65 Creambacks in x-pattern with the Small Blocks in my Splawn 4x12, which is my favorite cab anyway. I've build and demo'd speakers at WGS for a long time and have played about every cab and speaker... literally... we had everyone from Mesa-Two Rock send us cabs and amps wanting to see if we could do any better than the speakers out there.

Anyway I think I'm going with the Creamback M65's. The H75's just sound kinda like another V30 to me and I love the original Greenback tone best, especially with the Shiva and Marshall type amps.

i have two Bogner OS2x12s, one with the stock V30s and one with Hellatone 60Ls (V30 OEM variant), and i have two Creamback M65s in a homemade large vertical 2x12.

the speaker efficiency / loudness difference between the V30s and M65s is very noticeable. i have to bump my amp volume up a notch when using the M65s. so i totally agree that a V30/M65 mix would have the M65 getting swamped by the V30. (if you wanted to mix, i bet V30 + Creamback M75 might be a better loudness match.)

i love the tone of the 65s. i don't feel like i'm getting too much bass with the 65s, but i usually play classic rock out of them and chuggy metal stuff out of the V30s. i don't have much experience with Greenbacks, but lots with V30s and similar. the 65s have that great classic raspy bite and snarl to them, which cuts through fine for me in a moderate-volume basement trio. V30s are cool and in my rig sound nicely thicker and more compressed, but they don't have that classic snarl.

which is sounds like might be what you're looking for. so i would say, try a pair of the 65s.

I am, I actually ordered two this morning. MF has 15% off $299 or more, so figured $270 for two M65's isn't too bad. They are the speaker I liked best when I demo'd my Shiva but couldn't afford the Bogner 4x12 so got the V30 2x12 cause it still sounded huge. So I'm really hoping they sound good in a big 2x12. And if not I can run X-pattern in my Splawn 4x12 and try two Small Blocks in the 2x12. Hoping the original plan works though, and I believe it will.

I don't like any Greenback style speaker in the Bogner 212. I like a big, bold tone from a 212 and V30s, CL80s, G12K-100s, WGS ET65s, etc all rock in the Bogner 212. The Celestion Lynchbacks beat out the Creamback 65s in every cabs I have testing them in. If anything I would use Lynchbacks in a 212, if not V30s or WGS ET65/Retro 30 pair.

I like CB M65's better than the Lynch's. More rockin old school and more even tones with the CB's. I'v talked to many that has swapped out their OS2x12's for greenbacks and Creambacks. But if they dont sound good in the Bogner cab, then Im sticking the two Creambacks in the 4x12 Splawn cab and know they kill in that cab. Just hate ordering stuff before hearing the tones for what ever application I'm using it for ya know. These Creambacks are STILL on backorder and now I hoping to get them on the 9th. Everywhere you check the 16 ohm CB M65's are on backorder or out of stock. It's cause the new guitarist of today didn't know that Greenback speakers are really what RockNRoll is and was back in the day. Every amp I own sounds better through Greenback type speaker seems like.

Yea, to me the best speakers for me are V30s, Lynchbacks, Greenbacks so that is what I use. I also use in my Stone Age, WGS Retro 30 and ET65 which I think kill the Creambacks. :)

I love all those speakers and have all of them except the creambacks. I have the os2x12 which is my main cab. Every time I mess with the stk V30's in there- I miss something- they add a lot to the tone and help the os2x12 cut in the band mix all my opinion. With all that said it's great to read all the opinions. always tough to have to spend the cash but you'll never know unless you do, that's why I have a closet full of speakers-  the MFG's love us all

Well I actually got the 2 Creambacks for "either" my 2x12 Bogner or 4x12 Splawn. I wasn't lying when I said I loved the tone of the creams in OS 2x12, BUT after playing a gig, there was something missing as u said and didn't cut as well.
So my original plan was to put them in my Shiva 2x12, but they sound way better in X-pattern in my 4 x12. So did that today and MAN it's so much better. Small Blocks and Creambacks in X-pattern. The cab sound way more alive, bass is tighter, and mids are the best man. And the main thing is all my amps sound good through the cab.

Skip the Creambacks man and get the Lynchbacks which I think are a better speaker with the 20th Shiva, which I have. I have tied all of those speakers and got it down to my favorites which are as follows:
Bogner 212OS - Celestion Vintage30/WGS ET90
Stone Age 212C - WGS ET65/WGS Retro 30
Splawn 412b - Celestion Greenbacks/Celestion Lynchbacks

Yea I know u love the Lynch's. But I like the punchier mids and brighter tone of the Creambacks man. The cab sounds way better now. Might end up going down the street and getting WGS to make me a 97dB V30 to replace the Small Blocks. But this cab sounds even better than before and u know what they say... IF IT AINT BROKE.. Don't fix it. And it's workin better now. Way more of a bigger open 3D like tone from the cab now. Thanks for the 5th suggestion about the Lynchbacks though, haha. I like what I got goin on, and u like what you got. I'm happy.

Atom, I am going to be ordering up some Creamback 65s for my Stone Age cab soon. I want to give them another shot. They are still sweet, I should have spent more time with them when I had them.
Good luck!

Oh yea dude you gotta break them suckers in. The M65 also sounds better in a Marshall style cab or regular size 2x12 also IMHO. Now if I was going to be playing straight metal guitar, then the Lynchbacks
would be suitable for that. But I play a lot of straight RockNRoll, Classic rock and blues.... So far the Creambacks have sounded terrific playing all them styles with a great even balanced tone that's smooth, tight, focused (cutting through a mix) and a very "big" tone that sounds awsome even when you move your ears away from the cab, it all stays pretty open sounding no matter where your standing of moving. And even standing right in front of the speaker it's just pure rock tone without piercing your ears but great cutting mids and tight bass.

So do the Stone Age cabs sound pretty good, solid built, and decently priced? And what speakers you like in that cab? Also, why Stone Age? Is these your favorite cabs? I've heard nothing but GREAT reviews and clips from the Zilla cabs. I say to everyone... I've tried many many cabs, and Splawns 4x12 is one of the best sounding cabs for tight Marshall tones. Bogner 4x12s are about my favorite though.

Sorry, I meant to address you as Adam.

Have you played any WGS speakers in comparison?

I also play straight RockNRoll, Classic rock, hard rock and blues.

I just like what Celestion and Lynch came up with on the Lynchback, Great clarity, punchy, and very versatile!

The Creambacks and Lynchbacks are very similar to my ears, but I do find the LBs bigger sounding and more balanced.

I love my Splawn 412, Bogner 212OS and Stone Age 212C. The Stone Age is built so well and regardless of speakers, it stays clear and articulate. It sounded good with Celestion G12K-100s, Lynchbacks, Creambacks, and currently with the WGS Retro 30s and ET65s.

I've played every WGS speaker in comparison with almost every speaker. I worked there for almost 3 years man. I'll give you a rundown when I have time, but workin right now.

Thanks bro, tha would be awesome! Any thoughts on the Celestion Creamback vs. tehe WGS Invader?
I have been thinking of swapping out the WGS 65/30 for two Celestion Creambacks. I worry however that the Creambacks will not sound as big as the ET65/Retro30.
Looking forward to your thoughts on the WGS in comparison. :)
