I just traded someone my Recto 2x12 for a Bogner 2x12.
it came with an open back and greenback/classic speakers.
I bought a closed back, and traded the speakers for V30's. so now I have the typical 2x12 cab.
Jury's out.
the Recto, to me, is loud and clear. the Bogner, seems big sounding, and not as tight, to me, as the larger size (almost the size of a 4x12) and the extra air, adds more bass, and to me, seems a little scooped. it sounds more like a 4x12 than the 2x12 recto.
The problem I had with the Recto, was that when used by itself LIVE, i sometimes felt like I was missing the grind, and girth to the tone. it projected loudly, but didn't have the oomph for the heavy palm muting, compared to a 4x12.
I typically used it as a stack and a half, and may get another one one day, for the same usage, if needed.
However, I couldn't pass up the trade to try the Bogner, so didn't.
Which do I like better? Not sure.
it's not as simple as that. they are both very different animals. sound completely different.
only your own ears can decide.
