Bogner Snorkler Deluxe

My takeaways from the first time playing it:

1. Lots of options... kind of crazy between all the switches and knobs
2. The purple channel is actually pretty useable, Reinhold did a great job with it
3. It's a noisy amp but not any noisier than my last one
4. The Density control isn't really super useful but it's cool to have the option
5. The EQ shift might be the coolest feature
6. The power section is absolutely different from the OG and the sweep of the knob is much more useable
7. As advertised, this Snorkler is more "modern" sounding than the OG
8. SO. MUCH. GAIN.
9. The switches do a lot more than advertised; they definitely affect the sound of other components downstream
10. It's still a nasty, spitty, pissed off amp with a ton of midrange and a lean low end, but the "spike" in the upper mids is less pronounced than the OG

Thing sound FANTASTIC. Purple mode good lord
Thanks for watching. I think it sounds really, really good and I barely even know how to dial it in.

The purple mode really shocked me. I thought it would be like Eclipse+ mode on the Helios Eclipse, where the gain is unuseable and the feedback is over the top but it wasn't. It was very useable. They did a great job.

Great video to get a sense of it. I do wish it was 100 watts still because it would probably sound a lot wider with the bigger iron.

My 100W snorkler (78 JMP2203 donor) for comparison, depth at 0 and deep switch off.

Here's the link for y'all. I sped it up to where I actually start playing.

Nice! So... original or Deluxe? Forget about all the switching options and versatility. Plug in, killer pissed off high-gain sound... which amp are you reaching for?

It’s just the nature of a phone recording (or similar) where the sound doesn’t really change through all the settings. Even with headphones I can’t hear any significant changes and it seems this amp sacrifices juiciness for tightness. I enjoy your OG Snorkler clip a fair bit more.
Would be nice if this lead to people offloading their Snorkler at a decent price to get this but the 104 didn’t exactly crash 101B’s 😔

Dude, thanks for sharing! I love my snorkler and never thought I could sell it. But this is tempting me...is it worth?? From that clip I cannot really understand. Can you still get the OG sounds? This is the most important part (at least for me)....I don't care about versatility. I mean, I have 3 other amps for that....

Thanks for the video Mike! Couple comments:

Unless the mode switch is now a 3-way, I don't think that PURPL.B switch is a second bright switch. I heard every other switch when you flipped them but didn't hear anything when you changed that one. It's potentially the way you'd engage Purple but I don't think it did anything during the video as your foot switch was connected (which took over). Separate switch makes me think optional "boost" that can be added on either Blue or Red (like 101B) but the foot switch layout makes me think it's just a dedicated path/Channel (like a Red + gain stage). If true, very Bogner to not just add a 3-way Mode lol

Standard Snorkler bright switch is only active on Red as well, so that's not changed.

Looking forward to the full review.

Calling the 104 an xtc is almost a lie. I think the 101b value held because the 104 just doesn’t do the same thing. Wish i hadn’t flipped my 101b sight unseen for the 104.

Hopefully someone less lazy than me reverses it as I would love to see what he did for the purple channel as far as the gain stage / what has changed since the Marshall mod.
