Greenbacks
Creambacks (the higher power ones)
Scumbacks (mix)
Lynchbacks?

others?

I tried several combinations and settled on Scumback Blackback M75s. I also tried a few of the regular Scumback M75 and H75 speakers. That Phil X demo with Greenbacks/V30 mix had me curious to try that combo as well as those 2 speakers alone. I found the Greenbacks alone too dark, especially if you plan on using the clean channel. The V30 was plenty brighter but had more of a modern tone. Blended with the Greenies on top, I didn't really like it as much as the Blackbacks. They were the only greenback M style speaker that wasn't too dark for my taste.

I have a Marshall cab with real beat g12-T75's and that is the cab I pick over greenbacks or Creambacks. I have a 1x12 with a Scumback M75 that sounds good too. I did not like H30's.

I just got a Marshall 1960BHW loaded with Greenback RI's and V30's and compared it to my Orange 2x12 with BM75's. The 2x12 killed it! Love the BM75's.

Ok, it looks like I'm heading towards scumbacks.

All BM75's, or M75/H75 mix ?? Large Dust Cap? Too many options.

I have an old Marshall cab with M75 / H75 in X-formation for my BE. Sounds killer.

Doesn't Dave use V30 in his cabs? He used to do an X pattern with Greenies, but I read recently that it's all V30s now. I prefer my Greenback/G12H30 X pattern cab over my Bogner V30 cab.

I think so. What was mic'd on the Phil X video was just the greenback on a v30/greenback cab. The tones on that vid sounded great.

The Phil X was G12M/V30's.

I used to run Scumback BM75's with mine but I grew tired of it after a year. I'm using a combo of 12H30/V30 and it sounds amazing.

Even better due to Avatar aging the V30's and the G12H30's.

According to Rob it was just the greenback that was mic'd though...which sounded good to me.
Maybe an all greenback cab would be good?

Aren't the 12H30's bright? I'm SO tired of V30s :-)

What did you not like about the BM75s? Would the M75/H75 mix have been better?

I like GBs' with mine, V30s' and H30s' are too bright for me, I tried them.

The G12H30's are super smooth and articulate. Not too bright and not too dark. The midrange is smooth and thick while the lows and highs are round and defined.

The V30's are somewhat darker and smoother since they're broken in. They're still mid dominant so I'm careful on the Mid setting.

The BM75's were just too bright and lacked a solid low end. At first I was pumped to use them but after two years I needed something different. I didn't like all the upper mid emphasis.

For reference, I'm using an LP with a Rebel Yell in the bridge and my 71' Super Lead.

Presence 7
Bass 6
Mids 5 1/2
Treble 8
Volume 3-5
Gain 8

My amp is not overly bright at all and is wicked tight/smooth. Killer combo to be had man.

I'm a Strat player using only single coils and I prefer the BE100 with V30s.

I tried my Scumback cab with Scumback M75s and my Marshall cabs with original 70's Greenbacks and it
was terrible with high gain sounds. Cleans were great but high gain, forget about it!

I don't find the BM75's bright/upper middy at all. Matter of fact, I went from a V30/G12H30 mix in one of my 4x12's to a BM75/H75 mix and then eventually to a BM75/G12H30 mix (didn't like the H75). Now the cab is darker and smoother. I can't stand H30's on their own.......scooped and harsh on the highs/presence. But the darker and more mid heavy BM75's fill the sound right out. At first I thought the Scums would be buried by the H30's dB's........but they are damn near identical in volume.

I run mine through Bogner straight with V30 and sounds amazing ... don't think I would want it to sound any different and can't imagine it sounding any "better" ... so my vote goes for V30's.
