I just flip/flopped power tubes in the two amps. Put the SED's in the Aldrich and the NS Mullards in the Jose. The Aldrich sounds A LOT better. The Jose.....well, lets just say I need to order another quad of SED's.

Did you try the JJ in the v2 position?
Yes, I did, and it sounds goods too. I can't remeber which amp I tryed it in though. Or if it's still in there or not.  I can't keep track. :aww: But yeah, I liked the way it sounded and was surprised, because I DESPISE JJ tubes....for the most part. ;) I think i still prefere all Chinese and a Tung Sol in V1, but would be happy with a few other combinations too.

Yeah, the difference wasn't nearly as big as when I switched from the E34L's to the SED's, but it made enough difference to where I like the amp a lot more now. I have it dialed in pretty much perfect for the tone I want. I like it through my straight Bogner with the X pattern a lot more too. I think I'm going to leave my straight cab as it is, and then change out the V30's in my slant to something like GB's or H30's. I'm really curious about the GB's. I've never even played through one. :aww:

I have a 80's Marshall jcm800 cab that was hand picked by Mark Cameron for my friend. I just wired it up in the x pattern with G12T75 and G12H30. Lets just say it is tonal heaven. You should really check out that speaker combo. I cant get over the tone of the speakers together. I even love it with My Cameron modded uber.

I run my HG Jose with the EVH cab (Heritage Greenbacks).....pure tone heaven :D

I am going to load my Bogner cabs with the Heritage GB's as soon as possible.......they sound so much better to me than the V30's (which I have used for years).........I just never took the time before to explore the GB's
Damn, I've been using V30's for a while myself and never thought I'd like the GB's. It never ends man. I guess I know what I have to do now.

What's the difference between a normal GB and a Heritage GB?

J.B. Check out this thread about Greenbacks. I almost fell off the couch when I read that you haven't tried GB's yet. (I think I now know why your love/hate relationship with the SLO over the years.)

You've got a great tone adventure awaiting you!

H30's are speakers I allways say I'm going to get, but never do. I do LOVE the 75/V30 mix though. I think I need a third cab.

Aaaaaaaaaah, awsome info man!! That's it. That's what I'm going to do in my slant Bogner. 2 of each in an X pattern. I was JUST talking to my friend who is selling 2 GB's too and they're mine if I want them, but I wasn't sure if I wanted them or not. I have to let him know tomorrow. I'm snagging them. He's coming here next weekend.

Definitly try out the Greenbacks! If you do the X pattern with the GB's and another speaker, and decide you dont like them, then be sure to try 4 greenbacks in the cab. You'd be surprised how good they sound with 4 of em in a cab. They have the perfect amount of breakup, and tone! They also have a certain sound to them that i dont hear in any other speakers

J.B......I think you will really dig the Heritage GB's with your Cameron's. I just A/B'd the Bogner V30 & EVH cabs again with my HG Jose.....it's not even close....the GB's win hands down (to my ears). Good luck!!

I think I'm going to do two standard GB's and two Heritage GBs in an X. I seam to allways keep my mids really low with my Camerons. I'm thinking it's because of the v30's? I gots to gets me some greenies.

Yeah, I've pretty much made up my mind on some GB's. Do you have any clips of your Cameron with the GB's?

Don't have any clips right now but I'll try to get a few together soon (don't have a system here at the house). We are doing pre-production for our new record so I should have a chance to record some quality clips soon.

You are correct regarding the mids/GB's.....I now keep my mids on the Cameron around 1 o'clock (6)..... I could never do that with the V30's....never sounded right. I don't mean to slam the V30's so much but the Heritage gives me more of what I'm looking for in tone. I will say that the V30 and the GB do sound very good when used together with certain amps (Herbert, MOD100). I'm thinking that I would have never sold my Ecstasy had I owned the GB's at that time.....

Thanks so much for the info. I'm so glad I started this thread. I think the speaker change will make what I thought couldn't get any better........well, even better. :D

I think/hope that you will like them. V30's seem to be very articulate and open sounding with strong emphasis on the upper mids; not on the highs like G12-75's.

Greenbacks are a different animal altogether. No ice pick to the forehead at all; emhasis is on the mids in a way that is (...here goes something  ) . . . Woody, crunchy and chewy.

FWIW i remember hearing clips from M. Cameron himself that were done miked to his laptop computer and the cab he was always using was a Greenback loaded cab. I'd bet (especially after hearing that D. Aldrich (sp? ) is using them as well; )that the amps are voiced for those speakers more so than others.

Let us know what you think after you've tried a cab loaded with GB's

I think i remember Ralph saying Mark has cabs with the celestion 65 watters, which sound greenback-ish.. Maybe those are what he voices the amps around!

I would love to get a quad of 65's but theyre damn expensive!

I definately will give a report. And as far as the "woody, crunchy, and chewy" thing, I speak that language. ;) :D

The only thing I'm concerned about is lowend. Will it be tight enough and big enough for me. I'm, starting to think about the 2 GB's and 2 H30's in an X.

And for Mark, I think he has 65's and 70's in his cabs. With the new amps, he prefere's H30's and CL80's. I can't see liking the CL's myself, but Mark is the master, so they must sound good with the amps.

J.B , I think your Ape is listening to Givin' The Dog A Bone  or possibly Sabbath - Looking For Today...

I've had my '78 2203 back from Soldano for a little while now after getting modded and I like it a lot.
