Great... another one. I hate you too!

Steve

That's a JTM RI with a HG Jose Mod (done before he started calling a Jose mod) and a 78' JMP Aldrich. Both amps simply floor me every time I plug into them.

The cabs are a 73' Marshall with the original 25 watt Greenbacks and an early 80's JCM800 with G1265's.

I'm not in the Cameron club, but I am in the Marshall extended family.
I have been a GT 12ax7C in V1 fan for quite sometime, but I have recently tried the GT 12ax7 mullard instead in my 2204, and like the high end better. I love the clarity of the "C" but find it a tad bright with this Marshall for my taste. Plus the Mullard is bigger sounding.

P.S. I am also a user and proud supporter of the SED Winged C's.

Another great tube combo for the Aldrich mod is V1Tung-Sol
V2 JJ
V3 9th gen. Chinese.
The JJ tends to add a really nice roundness to the tone. I also like the Mullard reissue in the V1 and then all Chinese.

:D You really do need to get one, Mark is a damn genius with these mods. He cured my amp GAS for a long time!! :D

Hell yeah man!! I knew you would love them. Now just try that preamp tube combination I told you about. I have yet to put the SED's in my Aldrich (Have the NS Mullards) but have the SED's in my HG Jose. I think i might do a swap this weekend and see how they sound.

By the way.......I miss that GMW. I really REALLY regret selling it man. I've been thinking about it a lot. You got lucky man, you cought me at one of my weak/stupid times.

I think you will love the SED's in the Aldrich man!!

If i ever sell the GMW, you got first dibs!! Its a killer guitar, i took out the Duncan custom and put in the Aldrich humbucker. Sounds more balanced than it did before, and its hotter too!

Killer brother. Don't they just floor you every time you play them? And do yours sound a lot different from eachother too? Mine do. They compliment eachother. I'm watching the Evil or Devine DVD right now for the 12th time in a week.

Yep, i have some GT Chinese too and they work pretty good too, but I've had some go bad on me pretty quick. The GT Mullard I hated and had ever worse reliability issues with them. If you like the GT Mullards, try the New Sensor Mullard, it's A LOT better than the GT, trust me. ;) No really, trust me, lol. :D

I will try that tonight! I have about 20 JJ's laying around from taking them out of amps, replacing them with other tubes, then selling the amp with the good tubes in them.

Good idea! Anyways you have the other two Camerons to keep you happy until then :D

Have you ever ran a Wet/dry rig with the Cameron and another head?

I normally hook my Cameron to my 4x12, and my Boogie MKIII to a 1x12. i run a line out from my Cameron into my FX unit, and then out to the return of the Boogie's loop. It sounds so huge you wont believe it!!! :D If you do it with 2 4x12's instead, it would sound rediculously good!

No. I havn't tryed anything like that yet. i have all sorts of ideas that I want to try though. But I need some odds and ends. All I really have for equipment is the two Camerons, the two Bogner cabs, a guitar, some cables :D , a wah, and a boost. That be it. I have plans though......yes......OH YES........I have plans.

Well i highly recommend trying this out at some point. The best possible way of running the stereo rig is Wet/Dry/Wet with three cabs and a poweramp. That way you get true stereo from the outer cabs, and the punch and clarity from the dry cab! Thats the way Doug gets his tone on the Evil or Divine dvd. 28ms modulated delay turned on all the time, and a long stereo delay during solos!

Hmmmmm.....I talked to Mark the other night, then Doug called him, then Mark called me back......pretty cool. But anyway, Mark told me he was using a Martin modded Marshall and one of his Camerons (pretty much the same one I have (it's an '03 mod), and was whitching back and forth between them and using a couple differnt boosts. He said the Cameron was the brighter of the two. He said it's hard to hear, but you can hear it.

But you have hung out with Doug havn't you? Did you ask him about this? So, what you're saying is I need another cab and a power amp.....

Also, (I'm still watching that DVD right now   ), his tone sounds very "Jose" to me. I've been going back and forth between my amps and think the Jose sounds closer at times, but other times, the Aldrich sounds closer. I just need to run them together

Edit: I do notice he has 3 cabs miced. Hmmm, you're prolly right.

Yeah man i have hung out with Doug a bunch of times. I ask him way too many gear questions and hes always kind enough to tell me all the info! The live solo and most of the solos in the songs was the Cameron Superlead, and the Martin mod was used for almost all the rhythm work. Doug had one of Mark's Standel amps but i dont think it was used as much as the other two amps on that show.

On the dvd, Mark's pretty much spot on with what Doug told me too. Martin Golub modded 78 JMP and Mark's mod on a 71 superlead. He has them hooked up to a CAE head switcher, which allows him to switch between any head into the one 4x12 cab. The amp switcher has a line out, which feeds his FX. His FX feed into his Mosvalve 500 poweramp, or sometimes he uses a VHT 2150 poweramp. The poweramp feeds the two outer cabs the left and right signal. The FX units are a Roland SDE-3000 for the short mod delay, and a Boss SE-70 for the long stereo delay.

He boosts the front end of the Marshalls with a Furman PQ-3 for more gain, and sometimes has a DS-1 in there running too sometimes but not always!
