-that company, or builder, or.... doesn't exist, there's a reason that real CAMERON amps don't come up for sale very often, and when they do,... No matter the price,.... its usually gone in hours, not days or weeks, with multiple bumps,
Truth.
Want a Cameron? Save up and pay up when they come up. With Cameron's it's not the circuit that's clone-able, like the Ceriatones. It's the time he puts in to TWEAKING the amp till he gets THAT sound he wants out of the amp. So, any number of guys can build a Cameron circuit but unless they have his ears and circuit tweaking ability you'll just have to hope to find a used one.

Friedman and many other builders voice their amps the same way. There is nothing exclusive about Cameron amps, just the shitty reputation of the builder.
Do some sound good yes but there are thousands of amps that sound good.

Here goes Dan again spouting off about Cameron amps when he's never seen or played one.

I dont need to give Mark Cameron or his "handlers" $4K to know i don't want anything to do with him or his amps.

Ive never had Cancer either but that doesn't mean i want to.

Frankly when your reputation as a builder is so bad you need to sell your products thru an Intermediary thats just creepy.

"Sucker Free Gear" oh the Irony.

  Truth yet again. Yes there are other builders and modders that do great work, but ask yourself this question: why, when a used Cam Aldrich or other comes up for sale, is it gonzo so quickly?
And, most of the buyers are longtime members here who have played or owned just about everything.
My opinion is the feel is very unique, kinda like the feel of a vintage 2C+ in that it can't be or is very hard to replicate.
Ahh good times..nothing like a Cameron thread to bring excitement here..now someone needs to follow up with a Bladez thread and we're good for a week....

I thought those Brad run atomica's sounded pretty damn bitchin.. but like others have said, the real camerons.

I had a Brad-era CCV and a MC built CCV side-by-side and they sounded pretty much the same. Of course my Brad-CVV was one of the early ones gone over/signed by MC before it left the shop. Cool amp, but I grew tired of it. I prefer my UL & Wizards to the CCV.

Hell, I've heard people compare Ceriatone's Chupacabra and Yeti to Cameron amps. I've never owned a Cameron or even played one, but I flat out love my Chupacabra and I don't care whether or not anyone agrees with Ceriatone's business model, being overseas, or whatever else. The Chupacabra is an awesome amp and if you order one you WILL get a good amp backed up by a reputable and reliable builder. That's a lot more than I can say for Cameron. I don't care how much pixie dust and unicorn farts people try to sugar coat Cameron amps with, I refuse to give a person like that my hard earned money.

As to the Cameron, this is my number one and probably still my favorite sounding amp. So why don't I play it? Well, it does that sound. Period. If you like the live Whitesnake sound from the first DVD with Doug, that is this amp.

The Cameron Aldrich tone is the best hard rock tone I've ever played thru. My friend had one that I got to play years ago and you are right, dead-on Whitesnake Live DVD tone was under my fingers. I could have plugged in a banjo and shredded. I actually thought the tone sounded more like the DIO Live in NYC DVD tone which was not as bright.

The Cameron amp debacle, which eventually turned into the company disappearing completely, will always be one of the worst missed opportunities in history. It is like that movie Good Will Hunting where the guy is a genius at physics but would rather be a janitor. That tone could have sold millions of amps. In my opinion, Friedman amps came out at the perfect time and all you have do is look at Dave's lineup of amps, guitars, pedals, pedal boards, etc., etc. to see how much ass he kicks. He is giving guitarists what they want and I respect him for his work ethic. Mark blew it and it is a damn shame.

did anyone tried surreal amps in person recently?

on most of youtube videos, i think his amps sound phenomenal.
but on the amp fest video (comparing to the other similar amps), no one points out it is the best.
and there is strangely not so much praise on his amp.

so i wonder the opinion on surreal amps.
especially, when comparing the tone and quality with cameron, friedman and the other far expensive amps.

have an AKA 100, nice amp.

Even if execution was there, I doubt the market appeal would have been realistic given current trends. Good will hunting is not a great example, more like Catch me if you can, The Sting, Ocean's Eleven (group), et al

I would get a Ceriatone Yeti or Chupa

Great build and sound quality amps along with being well priced

100% agree.

I've got Friedmans, Bogner, Diezel, even a Cameron CCV and my Yeti always impresses me. You cannot beat it for the money. It's sort of Cameron-like, with the two gain controls and bright switches.

Have had all the Friedmans (and currently have a BE), but yeah... for the money it's hard to beat Ceriatone. I had three of them and I still miss the Chupacabra. Don't miss the loop though. Mine sucked and I couldn't run FX through it. Still... I'd buy that amp back for the right price. But I've been interested in the Yeti for a while.

I know modeling/digital is not everyone's cup of tea but the AX8 and AxeFx II both have CCV and Atomica models. They also just generally destroy that Jose modded tone all day long. I was dead set on owning a Cameron but went Fractal. Glad a I never preordered! Anyway it scratches that itch for me. YMMV. I'll bet someone has profiled some with the KPA too.

Buddy of mine has a CCV-100, he got it years ago and it sounds amazing! I actually just got a Henning PlexRod 100 ( which i will be doing a thread on ) and him and i actually prefer the henning.

It's not only the tone of Marks amps but the feel is something you need to experience. I owned a few of Marks amps and a Chupa and there's a big difference.

I love my Henning Bottle Rocket!!! I had a Fortin Modded JCM800 a few years ago that I loved too. It was the first one he modded that included a dedicated clean channel. Here are a couple of in room vids of both. The Fortin clips are a little long in the tooth. I've gotten better at not talking so much over the years.
