I am serious because I know myself, I have a difficult time sometimes dialing in new amps to get the sound I want.

I was wondering if someone here can make a video showing how to dial in a amp for mostly high gain stuff but anything would be cool, low gain, medium gain, clean etc... Marshall, Mesa amps whatever etc and explain what you are doing when you dial in the amp. Like "I am not hearing enough mids so I am going to turn up the mid knob to 2 O'clock" or something to that effect.

I have not found any such video on Youtube.

I know I would like to show a video like that to a few guitarists I know who have no idea how to dial in a amp.

Thanks in advance if someone actually does this.

Seriously though... Variances in amplifier design, and the variables of cabinet design choices and speaker selections, along with different guitars and pickups, and various outboard gear selections and the use of them in multitudes of various interaction-- mean there's no getting around needing to use your ears, while trying various signal routing options, and dialing in your gear.

pardon me if i repeat anything, i didn't go through this entire thread, but i have a couple of little quick bits to add in.

most of your tone will be dialed in by the mid frequency knob. in 90% of cases mids are a good thing. if you were to cut your mids too much, you wouldn't be heard through the mix as well.

+1 to adjust with your ears and not your eyes.

and one thing that helps me when i dial in my tone on a new amp is to have somebody else be playing my exact setup with me tweaking the knobs. although everybodys heands and playing styles are different, i find that this helps, because when i play guitar i am focusing on the notes, not the tone, i plan out my blues at least 12 bars ahead at a minimum at all times.

then just periodicly experiment with adjustments over a period of time.

Ahhh I spy the initials next to the mains switch! Nice touch.

I always approach with my ears with everything at 12 and the gain backed off, put the gain up until i get the compression i need and tweak from there
