Canada declares war on US!

Despite their detestable leftist Govt Canada are the good guys.

I can't get my head around 10% Tariffs on China vs 25% on Canada.

That's worthy of quite a bit of hate in my book.

Really I can't get my head around any tariffs on Canada at all. Nor the threat of annexing it.
Again, it was never about tariffs. And I agree about China. We should have 100% tariffs on China at a minimum. I would support an outright ban on Chinese shit.

China wouldn't be the current threat if the west hadn't cheaped out. We would have still had manufacturing and things might have been a bit more expensive but not as expensive as it will be to fix the problem now.

...and if Woody went right to the police, this would have never had happened...

It's kinda funny, because apparently Trudeau bent Trump over a barrel and made him sign that last "bad" deal.

When did extreme rhetoric and views replace constructive criticisms? There's a lot wrong with this country and it's politics, anyone telling you it's the doing of one party or another is an idiot. They all work plenty hard to do their worst.

For what it's worth, there's always been friendly jabs between us. This is the first time I've seen genuine anti American sentiment up here though. I'm pretty disappointed to see people cheering on our "annexation", and hoping for our collapse, ngl. People are shitty though. What do you do?

I'm not even from Canada and I think it's wrong. If they can treat Canada that way they can treat anyone that way and that means in my book they can't be trusted at all.

Canada should put a 15% tax on their energy exports to make it up to the 25% you put on everything else they export. That'd hurt.

Actually if I ran Canada I'd cease trading with the US entirely - that'd really fuck you up.

You don't treat friends like you are treating Canada.

The fentanyl thing is a complete joke. Did you see how much comes through Canada compared to Mexico - like nothing...
Lol…

@Thumbpicker Brother, it was never about tariffs.

America's neighbours have a moral responsibility to effectively curtail illegal drug and migrant flow across their borders.

It follows therefore that, especially in a situation where tens of millions have crossed illegally (including the worst of the worst character-wise), the flow of fentanyl has resulted in a quarter of a million deaths and 2 or 3 hundred thousand children were trafficked-in, the US is not only within its rights but is obligated to act with whatever vigour is necessary to halt said processes. If temporary tariffs elicit concerted efforts on the parts of the protagonists, all-the-better... IMHO.

Go look up how much fentanyl crossed Canada's border vs Mexico. Don't bother I'll tell you... 43 pounds from Canada. 21,100 pounds from Mexico... You'd be familiar with the Australian expression a furphy? well this is a furphy.

Last time I looked it's up to customs to stop illegal shipments - so it's up to the US - blame themselves. But not much fentanyl was coming from Canada.

Oh I knew that brother.

Canada was dragging its feet 'though, having legislated action but not yet followed through. Trump and the US see the situation as urgent.

Having said that, I agree that the relative tariff amounts aren't commensurate, but by that reasoning a 0.025% penalty should've been imposed on Canada and nowhere on this planet is a figure like that going to incentivise any action whatsoever.

I don't think 43 pounds compared to 21100 is worth any action at all.

I'll tell you what this is about. It's about Trump trying to get access to Canada's resources and the Arctic. It's like the Iraq war and WMDs... it was never about the non existent WMD's it was about oil.

Magicians call this sleight of hand. Here watch the coin disapear and I'll pull it out from behind your ear.

Again, I hear ya bud.

BTW do you know how many people 43 lbs / 20kg of fentanyl can kill?

Different story from coke and whatnot. Different league altogether. There's the optics factor too. One must be seen to be doing something. On top of that, he's following through on promises made and this was one of them (curtailing flow through both borders).

It's ridiculous. It's up to him to stop it. Get DOGE to cut the fat out of government then reprioritise extra resources to their own borders via customs and border patrols. The tariff war just makes enemies. Negative reinforcement.

If they were antivaxxers then they got what they deserved
I was going to point out that you are retarded, but seeing as how you removed all doubt, I won’t bother. I’ll bet you wear a mask when driving in the car alone. You do don’t you? Be honest

I'm seriously lucky I'm not in jail... so probably not a good idea to say that to my face.
Unless someone from the government says it to your face. Amirite? Then you lay down and take it like a bitch. Quit with the internet tough guy shit. Only a handful of true badasses in this world, and I have never gotten a Christmas card from you.

So , you think there is an accurate list of how much crosses the US borders every year. Are smugglers declaring now? Only way either government would know the exact amount would be if they were in on it, and you can bet that they are, and also bet they ain’t sharing those numbers with citizens. V

43lbs of fentanyl is enough to kill over 10 million people. 2mg is considered a lethal dose.
Up your customs and border force and stop putting it all on them.

How much drugs passes from the US to Canada? I bet heaps more. I'd love to know those statistics.

More drugs of any description (not necessarily Fentanyl) would pass from the US to Canada due to the saturation of drugs in the US from Mexico. That's my bet.
