I love one trick pony amps. They are the best at what they do.
That's the way I feel about it, too. IME, almost every amp that has more than one trick isn't that good at any of them. There are a few exceptions, of course, but I'd rather have one really good sound than two or three kinda good sounds.
I think having to make one sound work for everything makes for better technique, requires more thinking outside the norms, and ultimately makes better players. I feel the same way about single pickup guitars. Anything to push me out of my comfort zone and doesn't leave anything to hide behind.
