He has moments of brilliance... And moments of pure shite.

I really liked Smooth that he did with Rob Thomas... It's such a good song all the way through. Tasteful and all the rest of it.

But then there are moments like this:

Punch in at 5:20 if you wanna skip the awesomeness of Tower and skip to... Well you decide for yourselves.

Like a fish out of water!!!

Now I am not saying that I could hold my own against Tower of Power, but then I am not a world famous guitar player.
Certainley not his best outting LOL but I didnt think that it was terrible. Besides, its pretty easy to post a vid or a bunch of them where someone isnt playing at their best.

But yeah, I get your point...

See, I just can't understand how it's the same person who has played those two songs. One is delivered with such... Flare... and the other he resorts to literally masturbating the guitar because he has run out.

I just think that he is so at peace with himself, and so comfortable in his life that he stopped trying to impress people, and started playing whatever enters his mind. Should it be slightly off, then so be it... If people dig it... Cool. Peace and love to all of us.

I think he is like Marmite though.  And I don't like Marmite...

never cared for that mexi-rock, very popular in the barrio though

I'm from the barrio (East LA, y que?) and we thought he was a joke. We called him the token hispanic. I still don't like his playing. He didn't seem to progress and became a parody of himself...

i find it funny that both the positive and negitive comments are right to me.

He does still play ...so that's cool.

When I have seen him it was very good .... but that was a long time ago.

Firing people because of their religious beliefs has caused me to have little respect for him. I have little respect for selfish manipulative people and that was my perspective of his behavior.

Yeah that's not cool.

I often find that the more I find out about famous musicians that interest me, the more I lose interest.

Take Mr. Page for example... I thought of him as a God. Then I learned that he was courting a 14 year old girl... That's just not right, is it?

Myself I do not know enough about the whole thing to really say ....most people fall pretty short of being god like, depending on what god you are referencing.

At the time he was in his mid 20's and depending on your location and views on that age can vary a lot. People have had relationships with much larger age differences .... and not to many years ago a lot of people married at very young ages. 14 was not considered unusual. I believe they did have a daughter and it was a long relationship ...so it was not just some fleeting relationship.

Jimmy has been married with family for some time now and spends a lot of time doing charity work.

Myself when I was 24 saw a girl that was 17 for about a year .... we are still friends and that was over 20 years ago.

:) Besides you know what they say ..... all is fair in love and war.

Point taken.

But where I am from, dating a 17 year old is legal, and dating a 14 year old is illegal. It may vary from country to country, but it just seems wrong to me to date a 14 year old.

Myself ..... I do agree 14 sounds pretty young. A lot of people are not very mature at that age. I am at the point in my life where a 30 year old women is a young one .....

I know one can't believe everything one reads, but I have never seen an account discrediting any of the information. The David Bowie thing is disturbing... If it's true that is.

Imagine if that came out today (I don't know how the whole Page/Bowie/Maddox thing was received back then)... Robbie Williams (or any other big name) sleeps with a 13/14 year old...

I am sure all kinds of things happen that none of us will never hear about ..... the world is not a pretty place.

I'll second that! A lot of sick people running around. :gethim:

Santana is one of those players I just dont "get". It just sounds like sloppy, nonsense to me. I agree with those to say you can clearly identify his playing. But when I do that, I usually know right away to turn it off :) The last thing I saw was him and Gavin Rosdale mashing their way through Bang a Gong on some awards show and I thought it was really painful to watch and listen to. I still dig Black Magic Woman and the song he did with MJ, "Whatever Happens".
